Baz, try clicking ok or something on the cookie message at the bottom of the screen, then try getting a verification email again. I was having the same problem yesterday and it seemed to work after I did that, could be coincidence mind. Good luck!

Just tried it but no luck :( cheers anyway spatch :)

I think it's a bit rubbish that the charge grip isn't included.   Considering it's just accepts a cable rather than having a battery in it.   But then again if it was included we'd expect the cable as well and these things add up.    Alongside the fact you shouldn't need it anyway (JoyCons last 20 hours) I guess Nintendo decided to cut that particular corner.

TWENTY FIVE QUID FOR A USB SOCKET?!

So, the joy-cons last for up to 20 hours on their own internal batteries, either when clicked into the included plastic grip or just held loose in the hands.

But when they are plugged into the Switch itself for remote or couch play, do they draw any power from the system, or do they ignore it and still just drain away over (up to) 20 hours - i.e. they only charge from the Switch when it is charging in the dock?

Surely it's the latter, as the Switch battery is the critical path to mobile gaming with only 2.5 - 6 hours on a full charge.

They only charge when attached to the screen and the screen is docked.

I would guess they charge any time they are connected to the main unit.  Their power usage is minuscule compared to the console itself and it would be a bit rubbish to have dead controllers attached to a fully charged switch.

Cancelled my pre-order last night.

I want to love it. I want Nintendo to win but this just smells of another Wii-U disaster.

I honestly just want a simple Nintendo console and a simple Nintendo handheld with no gimmicks.

A true successor to the SNES.

HEATHEN!

Yeah... you'll be waiting a long time for that. It'd be nice though.

I honestly struggle to believe that.

The launch is just a shambles.

I actually love the hardware. Looks quality and £279 is a fair price but it's the worst collection of launch games ever.

I don't class Zelda as a Switch game. It's a last minute port. I felt the same way about the Wii and bought Twilight Princess on the GC (glad I did)...I don't even have that option as I sold my Wii-U years ago :(

Zelda's not a port, it's coming out at the same time as the Wii U version. They could've been arseholes and delayed the Wii U version for a few months or even just made it digital only but they didn't.

I got an email from GAME earlier that said "Important Information About Your GAM" and that's all I could see in the preview window. My heart sank but then I opened up the email and they've just changed some T&Cs on the GAME reward card. Phew. I'd have smashed their windows in if they'd cancelled my pre-order as I was the first person in that shop day 1 to pre-order.

The Switch will be amazing. It might turn out to be another Vita in 3rd party support terms but there are enough games planned for it to make the purchase worthwhile.

I'm sure a load of apps (Netflix) will come in at some point too and hopefully it will get used as a decent multimedia device as well.

Unlike the Wii U, the 'gimmick' is very easy to understand and a very attractive option.

cant wait

I think we have a new champion in the cancelled pre order for stupid reasons o'rama!

I mean with classics like 'nintendo being stuck in the past, all I want is another super nintendo' this boy is gonna go far!

BUT GOOD NEWS

He felt the same about the Wii and shunned Nintendo because they were only porting a Zelda game - Switch guaranteed to be a HIT!

Mental.

Yes, if you care about sales and what not then yeah, the Wii U was a flop.

But who cares? I bought the machine and played and owned a good 25+ games on it. I had more fun on that console than any Nintendo machine since the SNES!

And, if it didn't flop we'd not even have the Switch!

You want Nintendo to "win"? Win what?

Has this his thread reached peak rllmuk?

I told myself I wasn't going to pre-order one of these, the launch titles are a bit thin, and can I really justify 300 quid to play one game? Of course when that game is Zelda, and it looks as good as it does, it turns out the answer is, yes. Yes I can justify it.

Pre-order get!

Tense times. Plans for 'shock' cancellations have been thrown into disarray by Gossi the Dogs preemptive cancellation earlier today. The thunder has been stolen. The wind has been taken from a few sails.

It was always going to be a fine line to tread. But now it's done.

Bless you all.
