I don't think Nintendo have restocked its just all the misers on here who don't want one but had 3 pre orders each and finally cancelled them!

They stated recently that they had to increase production as preorders were going very well. They should have plenty of Tegra chips ready as the switch ones were being made in July last year (If you look at the close up of the Switch chip you can read the date of it's manufacture).

I don't think that Ad will help sell the Switch that much when non-gaming enthusiasts find out the price of the machine and that 1-2 Switch isn't a pack in.

They really should have learnt a bit more from the Wii.

Doesn't really sell the console/portable part of it either other than a brief glimpse of it at the start and end. I know they've only got 30 seconds to get a message over, but wasting it on a game most of the "hardcore" think is over expensive seems a wasted opportunity. But hey, I'm not the casual gamery, social person it seems to be aimed at.

I will note that a guy at work who's pretty up on his tech stuff saw one of the adverts and thought 1-2 Switch was bundled with it (despite me already moaning about its price previously ).

I'm teetering on the edge of cancelling my £316 Neon and Zelda pre-order. Predictably. Sorry joe.

Will invest in a retropie kit as consolation.

Before you decide can we confirm that if you cancel you will not be back into this thread? may change the 'advice' we offer you on this dilemma ;):P

Something I didn't realise is that the Joy-Con grip that comes with the Switch is not a charging one, it's just a plastic shell.  This means that the only way to charge the Joy-Cons is to attach them to the system.

AFAIK the Joy-Cons have a battery life of about 20 hours & when connected charge in about 3 & a half.  I think thats good enough to not necessarily need the charge version of the grip, though I would imagine that quite a few people are thinking that the charge grip is the one that comes with the system.

I guess it depends on how much you care about that stuff.   I just want to play Zelda etc.   All those other things are just incidental details.

Yes, I'm at the stage where I don't buy every game that is released. So, having Zelda on day 1 with MK8, snipperclips, arms and splatoon to look forward to is exciting enough. Having VC at some stage is a huge added bonus especially as I've never been massive;y in to animtendo (I know) so will have plenty of classics to explore.

I do wish though that apps like Netflix were available and then it could be my go everywhere, do every thing device. Such is life!

I think it's a bit rubbish that the charge grip isn't included.   Considering it's just accepts a cable rather than having a battery in it.   But then again if it was included we'd expect the cable as well and these things add up.    Alongside the fact you shouldn't need it anyway (JoyCons last 20 hours) I guess Nintendo decided to cut that particular corner.

Presumably you can use your phone for Netflix.    For 90% of devices I tend to install the Netflix app and never touch it again.   Apart from the PS3 which is my Netflix machine of choice.   But I have so many ways to watch Netflix I find it hard to care about it on Switch.

Wait....what? Really? My understanding was you could attach the joycons to the grip and it would charge them up from its own internal battery. That's a bit rubbish if not.

There's no internal battery in any version of the grip. For £25 you can get a version with a USB socket that lets you charge the joycons when it's plugged into the mains.

So, the joy-cons last for up to 20 hours on their own internal batteries, either when clicked into the included plastic grip or just held loose in the hands.

But when they are plugged into the Switch itself for remote or couch play, do they draw any power from the system, or do they ignore it and still just drain away over (up to) 20 hours - i.e. they only charge from the Switch when it is charging in the dock?

Surely it's the latter, as the Switch battery is the critical path to mobile gaming with only 2.5 - 6 hours on a full charge.
