JUST YOU STEP OFF FOR SECOND THERE BUDDY!!

This is a brand new... Console is too small a word. This is a brand new device. Capcom love it. Just because they're not launching with RE Switch it doesn't mean anything. They love the Switch, that's a good thing and suggests they're working on some real barnstormers. Sure, all they could get ready for launch was Street Fighter. The Japanese will love that. There's literally nothing negative here.

Nintendo are all about announcing games which are close to release. Nintendo and it's third party partners have announced the minimum required to create massive amounts of hype. And that's enough for me.

It is an odd choice though. Even the 3DS had SFIV, which was brilliant too.

They probably decided on Ultra Street Fighter II because it's the 30th anniversary of the franchise this year and Street Fighter II is the most well known of all its games. Plus it's limited roster and existing HD assets mean it'll be relatively straightforward to put together. I'm surprised they've gone as far as meddling with the game's balance and mechanics, though. It'd be nice if an untouched Super Street Fighter II Turbo mode was in there too, since there's not really a way to play an arcade perfect version of that on consoles.

I'm surprised it's an exclusive, though. They must have other plans for the 30th anniversary.

SSFIV 3D was impressive though. I'd happily accept another port of USFIV to Switch if Sony's exclusivity means we can't have SFV.

I'd like them to double down on the classic fighters, to be honest. If they get Street Fighter III, Power Stone and MvC 2 on it, plus turn to, aha, the kings of fighters and give me The Last Blade 2, Garou and/or Samsho 2, I would be delighted. A portable system with easy local multiplayer would be quite the thing for that genre.

They'll also need to release a decent controller for such games, of course. I can't imagine any of the 2D fighters handling brilliantly on the joycons.

How will that stick work when the Switch is in Tabletop mode? Is it wireless? There's probably not going to be a convenient way for two players, using a stick each, to play in Tabletop mode, is there?

Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of joypads with an actual d-pad rather than full on arcade stick, I can't really see me lugging two full sticks around for multiplayer on the go!

I think a couple of bluetooth controllers with a dpad and six face buttons is most likely. Ideally they'd be JoyCon too but I can't see that working as a two-part, solo controller. The JoyCon design is very clever as-is but some traditional two-player games might be awkward.

I'd be very happy with replica SNES controllers for that kinda thing or, even better, Sega Saturn controllers. I'd rather not have another generation worth of controllers to stuff in a drawer, though.

Tell you what. First Nintendo have too many controllers for their console. "How can I reach my sister buried under the mountain of Wiimote steering wheels, balance boards, and nunchucks?" they used to cry. Now the Switch doesn't have enough controller options, and that's despite the Joy-cons being the most revolutionary controller ever, and the Pro controller out-xboxing the Xbox controller. "But how will I ever execute the Kamiya manoeuvre without a proper digital stickpad, Nintendo?!" they scream in the streets. They just can't fucking win, can they?

I've had a thought going round in my head for a few days now.  I've pre-ordered from Argos to be delivered to my home so it'll all be waiting for me when I get home from work.

However, there's also an Argos about 5 mins away from work.  So now I'm thinking I can reserve one click-and-collect on the train on the way in and grab it on the way to the office.  I can then mess around doing all the setup at work and play Zelda properly on the way home.  I can then return the one that arrives in the post to my local store on Saturday.  This is a no-downside plan right?

Depends if you value your job. There's no way in hell my work would let me fiddle with my Nintendo switch in work hours [emoji23]

Pffft. I'm sat at a desk all day listening to podcasts, having another device on my desk updating/installing things wouldn't even be noticed.  Well, apart from colleagues wanting to have a play with it.
