They still haven't learnt that Wii Sports was important for their success with casuals. Or at least they don't seem to know why it succeeded, because they do keep trying to emulate it, unsuccessfully.

Is 1,2, Switch their new Wii Sports? They think it'll get a buzz going? Did you watch the above video? Can you imagine people trying to play that at parties and having the same reaction and popularity as Wii Sports? Most of the games like sword fighting fundamentally don't work, you're just flailing the controller around while the Switch plays a promo video and sound effects.

They don't understand the success of Wii Sports yet they continue to produce games they hope will catch fire with casual gamers. Or else why does 1,2, Switch exist? And why haven't they picked up on everybody who tries it saying it should be a pack-in?

Wii Sports was a one off never to be repeated phenomenon and constantly bringing it up as needed to sell the console is getting silly now, there isn't anything that can do a wii sports, Nintendo already tried it on the Wii U and it didnt work.

The machine could do that on its own with the hardware being the reason to buy one first and games to follow, Nintendo have a pretty solid launch window line up with Zelda, 1-2, MK8, Splatoon 2 leading up to the new Mario game - it seems they have learnt lessons from the Wii U in that regard and have defi staggered some of those releases.

Of course they have picked up on people saying it should be a pack in, then they have ignored them as its pre order rate is apparently incredibly high - the console is unlikely to be making much profit so adding it in would raise the cost and you've whined about that enough already - imagine if it was dearer with a game you don't want, you would prolly have to give up your job to dedicate more time to whining on here ;)

I don't know but I'm starting to have doubts on my pre-order.  I've just got so many other games on the go at the moment.  After Zelda I'm not sure what else I want.  £300 odd pounds is a lot for 1 game. Pre buyers remorse I don't know.

It looks great, and I want in on the day 1 hype train, £300 isn't really all that much, both the X1 and PS4 were more expensive on launch and I have the convenience of playing the same game anywhere I go ( well, as long as there is a recharge point handy :P )

@deKay Pretty sure on the Treehouse vid of Bomberman they mentioned that the credits were earned in game, with it being 10 to continue and that they had just bumped that many on there so they didn't have to mess about, there of course may still be IAP's, but until it's out, you should get the Klaxon on that post :P

The portability of a full fat Zelda is a huge plus point.  Im not sure why I'm having a wobbly moment as I'm hyped as can be and we are so close now.  My head and heart are at war.  I've got two pre-orders not sure which to cancel. Shopto for DPD tracking goodness or Amazon for unknown delivery company.  Life is good.

12 switch does not appeal at all

It's two consoles for the price of one. It's not overpriced. I certainly don't mind spending close to £300 for a 3DS/2DS and a Wii U with a bit shinier graphics. Mario Kart and then Splatoon and then Mario is a perfectly fine first year (or rather 9 months). I forgot Zelda. That's 4 big, big games. Monster Hunter and Xenoblade too and the jprgs also look interesting. Once I've finished Zelda, I'll be getting a jprg - can't play two rpgs at the same time. I like the look of Tetris too. FIFA I doubt I'll be interested in as I don't like football sim games, the AI can't ever replicate playing a football match so I've never felt the urge to bother playing them. The last FIFA I bought for more than £2 was the PS1 game that came out at launch for that. There will be a Nintendo Land game at some point. The only thing it's lacking is a proper racer (although Mario Kart is fantastic online but it's an arcade game at heart). I'm not into fighters so can't comment on Street Fighter but they'll bring out an SSB game. I'm very hopeful that the apparent lack of games will fill out quite soon. I'm certainly not having second thoughts about my pre-order although buying Zelda from GAME was probably a bit stupid; I only did so as I have £15 credit at GAME and I doubt I'll ever spend that if I don't use it on Zelda from GAME.

Their attempt with Wii U only highlighted their lack of understanding. Nintendo Land was not Wii Sports. It was largely impenetrable, I hear there were good games in there, I gave up on it pretty quickly.

Twilight Princess and Wii Sports were a great one-two at launch. Rabbids and Red Steel were also pretty reasonable launch titles.

I don't think 1,2 Switch and Bomberman R is as strong a line-up.

They have 4 big games to launch this year, but I guess we will have to see how this strategy works out.

:P It should be cheaper AND come with a pack-in, DUH!

I imagine you would be saying the same about wii sports if it had as much exposure as 1-2 has now - how do you know what casual players want?

No one say the Wii success comping least of all people on here and forums/press in general.

They seem to have ditched the whole Sports range so no Wii U Sports or Switch Sports... it couldn't be that difficult to come up with something similar as a pack in? Pack in games have MADE consoles going right back to the 8 bit days and they know this so it's weird that there's just nothing. NintendoLand was terrible and unapproachable (edit. as a launch game), it might have had good stuff hidden away but most casual people I know just gave up on it in a day or two, just wasn't enough there. Go back to Wii Sports bowling and Golf they just worked.

There's was a WiiU Sports but I think it was some weird IAP thing.

You could buy the complete package on disc ( possibly on the eShop ) or on the eShop you could buy the individual sports you wanted from what I remember.

Had a go yesterday of this at the Manchester event. The console is lovely! I was worried the pro controller would be a must have, but the regular joycon controller was nice. I kept worrying that my thumb would knock the right stick when using the buttons, but it was fine.

Splatoon looked lovely and MK8 was a joy to play in handheld mode. Played ten minutes of Zelda, but the majority of that was whilst a rep talked me through it, so couldn't really get into it. Almost wish I'd waited to play it for the first time at home. Though I did get to try both the pro controller on it and in handheld mode.

Neon looks very nice in person, the grey seemed a little boring in comparison!

I'm wondering if I'll need a longer USB C cable for my TV set up. Can anyone recommend a decent 2m cable? I believe a bad cable could cause problems(they've been known to fry stuff!).

Pack in games really aren't a thing, barely even big in the 8bit days and the wii - nothing else of note has had a pack in game.

Get out. Mario Bros and Turtles were THE thing in the NES days. Super Mario World, Mario 64.... how did you miss those...are you 12? I haven't touched other systems.

You could rent stuff for a day for a couple of quid. I'd be quite happy with the same deal on the switch, would be fun when I've got friends round.

My Snes came with Mario Allstars as I was late to Nintendo, my Master System came with Alex Kidd and Mega drive was solus.

Since then only the Wii & Wii u came with a pack in game, Mario 64 wasn't a pack in.

I have had pretty much every system from the master system on and can only think of the above and maybe tetris with Gameboy - everything else was solus and you bought the games you wanted and always ended up with shite like Perfect Dark Zero on launch day ;)

They're trying to sell us on the gimmicks and most people aren't going to buy 12 Switch, when people see it; it'll most likely be someone playing Zelda which doesn't have the casual appeal.

I'm only buying 1,2 Switch to show it to casuals that I know and for the odd party game, it's hardly a thrilling single player campaign is it?

They are not trying to sell US on gimmicks, they are selling us on Zelda, MK8D, Splatoon 2 etc, 1,2 Switch is for other people, they might like it, they might not, but it is definitely not in the same league as the games the majority of forum members are going to buy.

Is this a big point in your personal justification for your investment into it? I'd be more inclined to look at it as a truly portable Wii U+ if I were you, as the 3DS software connection seems rather weak on the present evidence of announced titles coming to it.
