Underpowered, over priced peice of shit that Richard Leadbetter of DF could build for about £170 with parts lying around his workshop, is my guess.

The power of the hardware looks fantastic for the form factor. And other than Zelda there's not much which is likely that taxing at launch so I would imagine they'll focus on other aspects of the hardware.

I really couldn't give a monkey's what is inside it because I'm 100% confident that it will play host to fantastic games, being a Nintendo machine guarantees it.

Plus fuck this obsession with specs that has overtaken the console market, I can accept it and even expect it on my PC, but consoles I want to be plug and play and for things to just work. I don't want to wonder if I upgrade to a PS4 pro will it improve the framerates in game x or increase the resolution in game y, I have a PC for that. I don't want to have to download 10GB patches before I can play a brand new game. I want to play games that are finished before the developers actually release them, it had gotten to the stage over the last few years were I wouldn't buy a game at launch because you knew most times it would take weeks for them to patch it properly. When you sit down and think about it that is a really screwed up state of affairs to find ourselves in.

Besides every game I have seen on the Switch looks good to me, Breath of the Wild is one of the most beautiful games I've seen. It might not be the most technically advanced but it looks great. Nintendo's games on the WiiU still look fantastic for gods sake. Hell I said in the 3DS thread that I think Ocarina of Time 3D looks fantastic on my 2DS and your watch is probably more powerful that that now.

Seriously the console players are bigger nerds than the PC guys now, o.k maybe not but it's getting there, obsessing over 900P vs1080P when you can't even see the damn difference  unless you stop the game and compare screens closely.

I want a console where I buy a game, take it home and it's finished and ready to play without huge patches like we used to, I don't care if it has Netflix or social media I just want the thing to play games.

Calm down mate, there's more to what Digital Foundry do than look at how powerful consoles are. We already know what's inside it and roughly how powerful it is. One of the questions I'm hoping they'll answer is about adding storage and the best card for the job.

I can only hope you don't lose it if Switch games start getting large patches.

It was a mistake.  It would have been great if they honoured it but they don't actually owe us anything.

It's a bit ridiculous tbh. People clearly know it's an error yet suddenly feel entitled to some huge discount after their blag goes awry.

I was kinda hoping they'd put large re-writable sectors on the game cartridges, that would allow us to store patches or even DLC in certain games.  Would've been very nice.

Breath of the Wild, for instance, uses around 13.4gb on the Switch.  If it used a 16-32gb cartridge, with a 13.4gb non-writable sector, a split writable sector for saves, and another split writable sector for patches/DLC, that would be brilliant.

But it seems that maybe not even your saves get stored on the cartridges, oddly.

The only thing I want to know about the eShop is that everything Virtual Console-wise will be available from day one. Please no more trickling releases out over several years.

... And that everything I've bought on the Wii U's VC is on my account and won't need to be re-purchased.

3DS carts weren't writable, were they? Gotta be a piracy thing because that can't be too costly.

How's it gonna prevent piracy?  Pirates could easily get the game information, similar to how they ripped 3DS cartridges in the past.  Or they could even just rip the digital downloads.

Some of the games are better than I expected but a lot of them look awful.

Actually looks fun, particularly with friends who will get into it. A lot will depend on how silly the people around you are prepared to be. It's not worth the RRP, obviously, but launch is the time to spend too much on slight games! Good that team battle exists, but kinda a shame that it's not a proper board. They could have made more of that.

Remember Wii Play? Those Wii motes were quite expensive but they bundled in a game of mini games so you didn't feel ripped off and Wii Play was really good. They should have done that.

Wii Sports 3 (Switch Sports) has to happen - there's Miis and motion control and HD rumble now. I'll be getting an extra set of controllers when that happens.
