It is a Class 10 UHS-1 card, U3 doesn't have anything to do with that.

Eh? The SD Association seems to believe differently:

"UHS Speed Class is designed for UHS** devices only and designates minimum writing performance to record video on UHS products. The UHS Speed Classes defined by the SD Association are UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) and UHS Speed Class 3 (U3)."

What else would it mean anyway?

Good luck with that.

Small indie titles are mostly reasonably priced.   The problems occur with titles released both physically and digitally.   The digital store is stuck at the top price while retailers are free to discount.  It just doesn't work.   Digital only games tend to be priced more sensibly and are less likely to be stuffed with gigabytes of video or other fluff.

I have this lazy fuck thing where I loathe swapping disks and carts so even when it costs me more I generally prefer to buy digitally. However I suspect that I won't ever need more than 128gig extra in my Switch.

I did order Zelda on cart though. I didn't want to take the chance of server issues at launch stopping me from downloading it.

Having been a PC gamer for the last 10 years where you don't really have a choice but to buy digital, even the physical disc is often just a steam code, I will be buying everything I can physically if for no other reason that I can sell it if I want to.

U1 and U3 are speed class ratings within UHS-1. Amazon are incorrect to list it as a class 10 but they are absolutely correct that it is UHS-1.

While the memory card talk is obviously riveting, I feel that this needs mentioning:

Thtas good news and of course long overdue - you would think Nintendo would want to put this message out before launch, I wonder if we will get a direct in the next 2 weeks!?

That's what makes me a little nervous about the Toshiba card, although it's sold by Amazon themselves. It might just be that they've accidentally registered a bunch of U3 cards as the Class 10 ones, hence the low price.

The stuff from Amazon is legit, I've got 2 of that particular model, typical Toshiba performance profile, very MotR, crap 4K write and just about manages to hit the U3 spec.

Zelda is meant to take up half of the 32GB though, the system itself needs 2.5GB and that might jump up in future updates. Going to be stretched pretty thin as it is just relying on the system space.

There's genuinely no advantage to owning this game in digital form at all. The only time I ever consider a digital game is if 1/ it's only available digitally 2/ if it's a lot, lot cheaper to buy it digitally. the Wii U stuff I've bought digitally is during a special offer.

I've just watched the video of the guy going through the system menus again and I couldn't see any mention of Bluetooth in the settings.  I have a horrible feeling that the Switch isn't going to let you pair Bluetooth headphones to it. :(

Someone from Nintendo already confirmed support.

We're talking about games here, games that most of the time you're loading from a physical hard drive on a PS4 or Xbone. An SD card will be perfectly good for loading games from, we're not talking about a difference in loading times in orders of magnitude, surely?

SD cards have notoriously poor transfer speeds. I'm not really sure why the PS4 is relevant although I would bet that HDD drives will still outperform SD for large reads.

The NAND storage inside the Switch may be 10X faster than the fastest SD cards out there.

I guess we'll see when Digital Foundry get their hands on it. I'm sure they'll compare internal vs external vs game carts.

Cheers. I've gone for one. Middle of the road U3 should still be better than C10 anything, and it's about £30 cheaper than any other U3 offerings. It won't be doing anything with 4K media so I think it'll be fine.

Mine went through fine and show in my orders - still doubt I will get it!

As did mine. I doubt many people would complain about the game if they get it for less than £2. Not that I expect that to happen, but there is a pre-order price promise.
