Someone on Reddit mentioned that the Platoon 2 test gives away a little nugget of info...

Basically it says to get the demo you can download it from the eshop on the switch or head to the game page and click on download demo - seems to suggest you can download directly from the store webpage, hopefully while docked you do this and it will start downloading ala PS4/Xbone!

The internet amazes me. We've now reached the point where people complain about a time limited demo being too time limited. It's FREE. They could limit it to 5 minutes and you've not lost out.

I actually wish more big releases tried to break the system before release. How many times have we been unable to play games in the first couple of days after release because nobody foresaw that a lot of people would try to log on at the same time?

Nintendo should bring Philip Lynott back from the dead to do one last Thin Lizzy world tour. They're so behind with these things it's unbelievable.

I know everyone's tongue is in their cheek and it's totally off-topic but I still feel it's worth pointing out that Thin Lizzy reformed without Lynott twenty years ago, are still going and are superb.

Seen them three times. Had my tits blown off each and every time.

Met Gorham and Robertson in Dublin during the Lynott statue unveiling weekend. Really sound guys. Gary Moore was a massive cunt, however.

The best thing about Nintendo is how they keep going backwards but get defended for it. I don't really care about the splat test fest but it just doesn't seem like the move of a company trying to compete on service offerings.

Do you still have to pay them for streaming their games on YouTube?

Are you annoyed about the fact that they are hoping to iron out any networking issues by testing in advance so that the actual launch goes smoother?

Or that they've split the test up so that hopefully more people round the world all get a chance to have a go?

Struggling to see how either of those are a bad thing if I'm honest.

How are the free demos on the Xbox? Still nonexistent?

I'm not really annoyed I guess I just feel that I have to justify myself after being negged for a seemingly innocuous post. I never neg anyone. I've been trying to work out how The Debaser has a minus score when he's very funny.

i just think that Nintendo have made a huge bunch of mistakes born out of some sort of tradition (child friendly, don't let people play for free, no voice chat blah blah blah), that look bad in comparison to other offerings. It's backwards. If you want to stress test your game, make it easy for people. Don't ask them to set their alarm.

The mildly inconvenient 1 hour at a time splat test is just, along with the online app (which we still haven't heard about) and all the other stuff is just another thing that takes away confidence in their online competence.

I mean, it's not world ending and I'm very much looking forward to getting my Switch and playing Zelda on the bog. I'll get grey because I haven't got anywear to hide the dock properly so it will be right by my TV and everything else that's all monochrome.

You've never had to pay them to stream their games, on Youtube or anywhere. You just have to agree to share any revenue you make if you decide to monetise. Apparently this model is uniquely unacceptable when videogame companies do it, but nobody minds musicians charging for snippets of their works in movies, etc.

I negged you because you'd rather listen to what a review says, which is in itself bad enough (Are there any reputable reviewers left?), rather than playing the game for yourself.

Nice big leak of information on reddit about the Switch and it's developer information and SDK etc. Also confirms that the dev kit that was leaked (and people said was fake) was actually real. The specs are exactly what everyone said they were (1 Tflop FP16 GPU (Maxwell tegra) with ARM 4xA57 at 2GHZ). Game card sizes vary from 1gig to 32 gig is size (But could very well go much higher). So no surprises at all.

Has all the details. Interesting early versions of the home screen etc.

I never actually said that but fucking hell, you negged me because you disagree with my purchase logic?

"Oh look at how this person chooses to make a purchase by seeking out an opinion before spending money the fact I am writing this on a forum where people share their opinions on games is not lost on me at all"

Fuck me

Debaser is in neg territory due to some of his political views in the past.

As for the splatest well it's exactly that, a test. Nintendo do it to check the network code runs well and runs well when the servers are under maximum stress. Last time they did it for splatoon they discovered a lot of things that needed tweaking (I'm sure it was mentioned in an interview). Other companies do such things. For example I play EVE online and there is a test server on there and they before they bring out a new patch they update the test server and ask everyone to pile on it for a couple of hours to stress test it.

It's not a case of nintendo being nintendo it's a case of getting things right. It's a good practice.
