Did anyone ever think the limited on board space of the switch was anything other than Nintendo being typically cheap?

Nope, as a cartridge based system, 32GB is fine, try owning a Vita, that had no storage at launch, 1gb internal on the updated system and forking out nearly the same as the console for a 64GB memory card, now THAT was cheap.

Nintendo have provided 32gb of onboard storage for games, OS and updates / DLC etc, and if you want to go digital or are finding you don't have enough space, you can buy a cheap Micro DSHC ( xc) whatever card and use that, it keeps the cost of the machine down and enables those that want to upgrade internal storage capacity to do so relatively cheaply.

If it was 32gb, not SD slot, non upgradable memory, then yes, it would have been an issue, but it isn't, so it's not :P

That'll be €30 for us Uropians.

Thought the system was region free etc, why not just buy an online pass from the US then?

E3 Nintendo this year;

- Nintendo's VR will be a low cost separate head device. Somewhere between GearVR and PSVR, for no more than 150 quid this xmas.

- Mario Odyssey will have some separate VR specific 'mini games'.

- There will be a zany party VR game that comes free with the device, party type games where one person has the VR and a different role to the others (Keep talking and everything explodes type experiences).

- They will announce a big single player VR experience based on a big IP (Something like Metroid) for 2018 (but it will come out in 2019).

Less than a pound I believe. With just the tablet without joycons, apparently the weight is similar to an Xbox One controller.

But you bring up a good point about attaching it to your face.  I didn't even think of that.  It could just slide into a wide helmet attachment of some kind for VR.  The helmet could include excess hardware to boost the performance of Switch games to achieve 90fps without a big visual loss in quality, and could end up being a cheaper VR alternative for real gaming.

isnt the switch screen 720p?

I thinkt hat maybe way too low for VR - PSVR and other similar headset are pushing it with 1080p the screen door etc with 720p will be pretty bad won't it?

Anyone have experience of Rift DK1 which I think was 720?

Do you do that with your PS4 now?

No, as my PS4 is sitting unused since the day I bought it, played a few demo games when it arrived from @bluejmc2005 and since then it has been in stand by mode, waiting for the only game I want to play on the system to be released, Persona 5.

I have no intention of playing the PS4 online, anyone I game with is on Xbox, and because I mostly ( 99% of the time tbh ) play single player games, online mp just isn't something I get into, my Xbox sub is for the free monthly games and my Switch one will be the same :)

This is certainly intriguing as I thought the same during the Switch reveal. Nintendo made special mention of Mario's Hat with eyes  at the end of the trailer and what might it mean.. Unless I've missed something, we still haven't heard anything about that have we? Has it been discussed at all? Unless it's simply to do with Mario tossing his hat about!

I can't see them doing it this year, they will be pushing the systems games. Next year would be better anyway.

So you have a US Gold* sub for your Xbox?

*Ho ho! No, not *that* US Gold.

There's a theory on Reddit that there's a (good) rabbit in his hat. This is pretty much based on the eyes being the same as the villainous rabbits (which they don't, other than being red) and there being a smaller door on his airship thing (of which there are two seen in the trailer, so can probably be disregarded as an idea too. I prefer a theory about it having something to do with VR.

When Nintendo go VR they need to do it properly. Switch is way too low spec and the joy-con aren't designed for it.

Who says they would have to use the Joycons? Could easily make a head piece with new controllers and sell it as an accessory plus VR has been around for ages on mobiles so the specs are fine. Granted it won't play the latest and greatest Oculus/SteamVR type releases but is more than capable.

VR is utter shit. My PSVR got a total of less than 2 hrs of game time and has now been boxed up and resides in the loft. Primarily because there were no games. And it was shit and sweaty.

Leave VR well alone Nintendo.

Can I have it?

I can pm you my address.

I sold my PSVR because I felt like the tech wasn't quite there yet so the thought of VR with the Switch doesn't appeal at all. It isn't just about the screen resolution but also about how the visuals take a big hit in VR. VR games have to run at locked 60fps. Any frame rate dips at all will cause problems with motion sickness, so visuals have to be scaled down for that, on top of visuals having to be scaled down to run in VR in the first place. On a machine that isn't exactly a graphical powerhouse to begin with I don't think it'd result in a brilliant first experience for Nintendo's first foray into VR to be honest. They're best leaving it until they can do it justice.

But it doesn't have to be state of the art graphically as games like Rez infinite and robot rescue proved . I'm sure switch would be perfectly capable of presenting a cheap , immersive VR experience if Nintendo decide to go down that road .

I am sorry to say, and yes I know I am in the minority within this thread. I really am on the verge of cancelling my pre-order. This is pretty much unprecedented for me.

Every console launch from the Dreamcast on wards I was balls deep!  But with Zelda available on the Wii U I just don't know whether I can justify the cost. With owning a PS4, XBONE, PC, Wii U, countless retro stuff and handhelds, what is the draw of the Switch? Bomberman I have on 360, Disgaea 5 I have on PS4, Zelda Wii U, Isaac I have on PC blah blah blah! HD touch I think could be great but not enough to warrant dipping in on launch day. It's not to say I won't eventually buy it. But for once, maybe I will be sensible and wait until around Xmas when some bundles are knocking about. I'm pretty pissed so if this make no sense sorry.

As I see more of 1 2 Switch, I get more and more tempted to get it day one. Though it was going to be the console, Zelda and a pro controller, so I'd probably have to drop the controller pre-order. I'll most likely stick to original plan and then buy 12Switch a few days later!
