does it charge from any old USB cable or do I have to carry a proprietary plug/cable round (or even worse a cable and  a plug/transofrmer box - look at you Vita!)?

Just weighing up carry cases

USB Type C cable, so it'll just be the Switch plugged into your portable battery with a cable ;)

im now thinking or pre ordering a Switch. Does anyone know if you can trade in games at Smyths Toys? I've checked on their website and i can't see anything. I'd rather get my Switch from them as Zelda is cheaper. If not i'll pre order one at Game, or i could get the machine from Smyths then trade in my games against Zelda at Game...hmmmm

Anyone worried about preordering, well, I wouldn't worry too much. I just walked into Grainger games today and popped £20 down for a neon for launch day. The dude behind the counter was positive I'd get it, so I'm just guessing that Amazon, etc. are just making sure they don't oversell, but there'll be plenty around at launch.

Konami may have confirmed single cart multiplayer...

That's amazing if true. But I can't see them sticking to it could slash their profits and it's Konami after all. From what I recall most games like this are pretty limited when there's only 1 cart on the device.

But for those serious about carrying cases... I present thee: The Waterfield Carrying Case

This is what some of their 3DS cases look like (for only $60...):

Plus $10 for shipping and a sure tax bill + "processing fee", or $50 for shipping with import fees already paid.

I'd like the Waterfield case but at current exchange rates $109 works out at £86.80 and that's assuming they don't increase the price to account for the Switch being bigger than a 3DS.

Mario Kart 7 has the full game available via Download Play. 'Guests' are basically limited to playing as Shyguy, and obviously can only choose what the host has unlocked, but otherwise they get the full game for the duration of their connection.
