Then, just get any old SD, and transfer whatever you're going to be playing to the internal space. That will work for anything that fits within whatever is left on there after the system updates.

SDs are, assuming Nintendo support UHS-I, faster than 500Mb/s. You'd be better sticking everything on the SD.

Has it been mentioned if the Switch supports UHS-II MicroSD cards, by the way? They're waaaaaaay faster than UHS-I cards - the fastest Samsung Evos (UHS-I) are around 90MB/s read, but the Lexar UHS-II cards are over 140MB/s.

So, which of your statements are true? 90MB/s or 500Mb/s? Oh yeah, that's right...IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER!

My own order update: I had the standard problem with Amazon after changing to a gift card so I cancelled that order and moved to Argos.

Unfortunately, I've since cancelled that order*.

*Because, since I found out that the neon colours are reversed from the individual JoyCons, I'd like the ability to have all red or all blue so I re-ordered it from Argos in a different colour.

The 3DS only officially supports SDHC cards up to 32GB.

In order to make bigger SDXC cards work, you have to reformat them to fat32, as XC cards usually use exFAT, which Nintendo haven't paid the licence for.

Which means that this time, much like the Sony gets all the Blu-ray licensing money meme (they don't, not by a long shot), Nintendo are going to be paying Microsoft to use their patented technology (but at least this one is way more true, exFAT is a Microsoft product which they solely control)

If the device supports UHS-I, it supports UHS-II. Just not to it's full potential.

That's certainly one way to look at it I suppose, UHS-II has an extra row of physical pins over older SD cards, so it is by design backwards compatible, nothing to do with forward compatibility in the host device. You're just stuck at slowpoke UHS-I speeds, even if the physical memory is capable of going much faster when connected to a modern UHS-II interface device.

Can someone make a new thread for all the SD card talk please?

My Argos pre-order is still in place and interestingly I just noticed that they haven't charged my card yet.  I paid with PayPal so expected it to go through immediately.

Sometimes with PayPal it doesnt go through straight away, one of my DD like payments is via PayPal and that doesnt go as soon as the bill is raised for some reason.

Do you have a source for this?

I assume he is assuming that it will inherit the same hardware feature set as the base TX1 SoC which does have support for both 4K output and HDR, but as 4K video requires paying a license fee to the HEVC licensing companies, who knows if Nintendo will have decided to foot the bill or got it customised out, as neither feature is required or supported by the portable screen mode so a bit of a waste of money to support it I would think, the dev briefing removed mention of 4K that was in the spec leak.

Can someone make a new thread for all the "I have/haven't/cancelled preorder" talk, please? Oh wait, there is one. It's called"are you buying a switch at launch"!

:P

If you feel like reading  Kotaku's last article on the Switch is an interesting one.

I agree with the idea that the Switch does not need that much of a focused demography. Because it is the perfect fit for lower budget games. A bit like Steam

I guess that is the reason why the Switch feels like the perfect fit for games that are not necessarily expensive to make (requiring massive returns)  Games like Arms, I am setsuna, or Super Bomberman R.
