The perpetual chasing of ever higher resolutions is nuts. It puts such an insane strain on GPUs/CPUs that you end up with fuck all power for anything else. Same for daft as a brush anti-aliasing. Just spend the cycles on 'good enough res' and then kick ass semi-transparencies everywhere, fuck tons of polys and buttery 60fps.

Yep. We're playing Woolly World right now and I can't even tell if it's 720 or 1080 by inspecting the screen as there's artificial DoF on top of the natural fuzziness of the wool. It looks absolutely lush and jizzes out 60fps like it's a flash game, something LBP can't do on a PS4 with around 1/4 of the beauty.

Does anyone know what load times were like for the Wii U version of Mario Kart? From watching the Treehouse MK8, the switch version sems to be 5-7 seconds per stage, and as one of the advantages of a return to solid state storage is supposed to be reduced loading times, I just wondered how it compares.

That sounds 5-7 seconds slower than the Wii U version.

The original 3DS had issues with the bottom portion of the console imprinting on the top screen leaving a mark

A problem the DS Lite swapped for self-destructing hinges, of course.

Past launches when people were fretting over their mailorders arriving/not arriving/partially arriving, I usually just walked into a store and picked it up even without a pre-order.

This time people will once again get burned; delivery companies fucking up,  shipments sent out  too late or incomplete, parcels left on porches, being in the toilet when the courier rings...

And then I will ask, just like every other time before,  why on EARTH do you rely on online retailers AND the postal services when you want  something NOW?

I would imagine it is to avoid the store  " Experience "

Game have a Switch + Zelda bundle for £320 which (unless I'm being stupid) makes Zelda £40 - a decent price if you missed the Amazon offer. The Neon Switch page does mention that they've sold out of their initial stock allocation while the Grey page says they don't know what their allocation is, so they can't make any guarantees for delivery time. The bundle page doesn't mention anything at all! So it might be a bit of a gamble but I think it's fairly likely that if you pre order now you'd still get one at launch.

On the 900p issue, x1 has it/lower, so worth seeing how that looks on you tvs:

Of course the x1 is more powerful /pushing more pollys etc but 720p/900p on a bigger tv is not a concern of mine.

Edit:just Googled for a random comparison chart seems like an old one

Boom.

I dunno. Feels like the Switch has quite a few Wii U ports, or games that were intended for Wii U that got switched (lol) over when the developer realised that Nintendo was going to can the console.

There isn't a whole load of new, exclusive and genuinely exciting content for year one on Switch, bar Mario Odyssey.  Good stuff, yes, but not exclusive or new.

Also, that chart assumes there are no delays this year. We're talking about Nintendo here.

Hopefully Nintendo have something cool up their sleeve to prove me wrong though.

Overpriced bomberman.

Some of those will no doubt be great, but hardly a 'boom' moment.

I'm hyped, Breath of the Wild and Binding of Isaac is enough of a financial outlay for me and by the time I have rinsed those there will be other games to play. I might not even buy BoI straight away, it's not like I'll be playing anything except Zelda when I get the Switch anyway.

I was having a look at what peripherals I need to be getting ordered and figured I would pick up a couple of extra power supplies to have around but at £25 each thats a bit steep, could I just pick up one of those Anker multi usb charger things and buy a USB C lead and use it that way - would an iPhone charger work with the right lead?
