Listening to the Giant Bomb podcasts both Jeffs feel playing with the right joy con feels pretty horrible due to the stick placement.

It'll bring back memories of playing Super Mario Kart multiplayer at mates houses as a kid. Someone always had to use the shitty third party controller

Yeah I know, but I'm not getting another pair of joycons.  I've got a Pro controller coming now instead

And I've got a grey console coming anyway, because I wanted the left and right to be the same colour. So it's doubly not going to happen.

I saw on Neogaf that some had mentioned getting the neon Switch and then going halves on a extra set of controllers. The left and right colours are the opposite on the extra ones, so one would be able to have a full blue/red set up.

I've been kinda guessing that it might be sort of similar to playing on a GBA SP, in terms of scale and button placement and all that. Might not be too bad.

I've got pretty wee hands but not keen on playing mariokart on a single joy-con, feel like my thumbs might hit each other on right turns. Are there exact dimensions somewhere so I can make a cardboard version to test it out?

I've just realised I keep my consoles in a TV stand (where you put Virgin boxes, DVD players etc).

Taking the screen out of the switch will be annoying - not that I can see myself using anything other than the normal pad..

That wasn't even launch. Sonic came a couple weeks later and Sega Rally after that.

I paid £500 odd for a day one DC with Virtua Fighter. It had no RGB for about 6 weeks because cables were not available. It looked muddy as hell! What a stupid purchase at the time! At least a bit later it had a few games!

Me too - then about a week after getting it realised no money had left my account. Free launch day Jap DC !!!

The NSMB series always had the potential to turn into the best 2D Mario platformer and the best 2D platformer ever made. So yeah, if 2D platformers are your favourite genre, then Wii U was the last console to potentially launch with the best game ever according to you.

And Nintendo delivered.

It was as shite as all the other NSMB games

Great question and one that made me realise I wear rose-tinted glasses because I was going to say Dreamcast! For some reason I had convinced myself it launched with Virtua Fighter, Sega Rally, Powerstone and Soul Calibur. If only...

The UK launch had three of those games plus Toy Commander and Sonic Adventure. Best launch ever! Followed by the GameCube launch.

They were OK, just not the progression and creative difference we got with SMB -> SMB2 -> SMB3 -> SMW -> YI

IMO they still have not yet created a game which advances SM 2D in the same way as they did during the 10 or so years the above games came out in.

Yes, just noticed and posted in the Zelda thread. The offer ends at 23:59 GMT on Friday, 20 January, 2017, so be quick!

More info: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/amazon-co-uk-10-off-50-spend-with-code-bigthanks-2603484

I pre-ordered Mario Kart the other day so I've cancelled that, re pre-ordered and added a 16gig sandisk flashdrive to bump it up to over £50 and I've got Mario Kart for £41 and a free flash drive. I need loads of those for work as I keep losing them - I wish they made flash drives the size of grapefruits like they used to.

Have you seen how tiny it is? It's way smaller than the Wii U, it's also vertical when you dock it so it's footprint is very slim (it's about the same as the Virgin Superhub/BT Infinity routers).

It is on the top yeah. I wonder if you can turn it over so you pull it out toward you? There's definitely a click when you put it it.

I wonder if WiiU MK8 players will be able to play Switch players? I'm thinking of waiting till Christmas but I know I'll cave if everyone is hyped playing Mario Kart again.

But Switch players will have an extra 1 frame advantage ;)

I forgot any new console purchase brings the neurotics out. How will it fit into my Ikea front room? Put it on the floor next to your unit. This is the moment (and they are fleeting) where we can get as excited as an 8 year old on Xmas day. Enjoy it and worry about where to put the new consumer product after you've sat with tears in your eyes and a shit eating grin on your face the first time you make Link snowboard down a hill on his shield.
