Popular Post Paulando
As a gamer, I definitely don't want to live in a world where my only outlets are playing PS4 or Xbox One in one room at home, or playing games on my phone (there are some really good games on the App Store if you dig deep, but anything requiring proper controls fails miserably). Some of my best gaming experiences of the last few years have been indie/downloadable titles, which would be a perfect fit for the Switch. Given the choice, I would go for the Switch version of these over a PS4/Xbox One version, purely so I have the option of playing it anywhere in the house (or indeed, outside the house). I went for the Vita version of FFX/X-2 because I was more likely to finish it on a handheld (and finish it I did - the first Final Fantasy game I've ever completed). Sure, there have been some missteps along the way; after all, this is Nintendo. Please understand. Not announcing the price of the online service was a poor decision, because it's leading to potentially unfair comparisons with PSN and XBL, and giving you a NES or SNES games for only a month is incredibly tight-arsed whatever it costs. I initially balked at the price of the accessories, but in hindsight an extra £70 to access 4 player local multiplayer is the lowest of any console ever as far as I know. In a year or two I hope the Switch is well on the way to satisfying people who want proper games to play away from the TV, local multiplayer games, and decent indie dev support. Joining Wii U and 3DS first party teams will hopefully pay off - imagine a console with the first party support of the Wii U and 3DS combined. I want updates to old classics, new IPs, a decent Virtual Console (Gamecube!). More than anything, I don't want handheld gaming to die off or get replaced by phone-only gaming, and I'm overjoyed Nintendo are keeping it alive.
Harns
Is it crazy to be thinking of getting 2 consoles instead of buying extra Joy-cons and Dock separately? It only works out a hundred quid more and you'd get a spare screen for local lan play!

JPickford
I think I've only ever bought one of each Nintendo main console but I've ended up buying several of each handheld.

The MASTERPLAN! They'll engineer a massive success due to fans buying 3 consoles each. It's genius!
Popular Post TheSlugFormerlyKnownAsNap
Once people start using 'only 100 quid more' to justify purchases, you know hype is at fever pitch.
hub2
You'll surely be able to get at least 150 for just the tablet on ebay, so does kinda make sense.

Mallet
How hard would it be for a third party to make a dock at a cheaper price? The price on the dock sticks out for me more than anything else, yes the joycons are expensive but you can kinda rationalise it because there is a lot going on in those little controllers. What is there actually in that dock though, is it just a charging dock with HDMI out?
Stanley
Why would anyone need more than one dock?

Right, but you can only be in one place at a time, and it's possible to charge the Switch without a dock. I know people do inevitably end up buying multiple consoles, upgrades etc. but buying another dock is daft.
hub2
I'd like one dock for the main TV, and one for my study/office. Perhaps people have a TV in their bedroom or want one for work. I think it's pretty clear the use cases for an additional dock

Stanley
Nintendo must love you lot. Also, having one at work, seriously? I barely have time to eat my lunch and have a coffee.

Broker
Playing Mario Maker for an hour has reminded me of how Nintendo's piss poor online implementation can ruin literally anything, no matter how good it is. I'm feeling like whether I ever purchase a switch will be heavily influenced by how much single player stuff there is and how likely it is I can enjoy it without paying the online sub.

Corranga
One of the first thoughts I had when I saw the unveil last year was that the dock could live in my games room and I could take the console out easily and play in my living room. Next thought - I wonder how much a 2nd dock would be. Definitely a market for a budget 3rd party dock solution!
