So how does the unit feel with the Joy-Con® attached? Does it feel like a singular, stiff, solid block or is there any flexibility in it?

(hur hur)

Here is the Official Nintendo image (from the manual) of how a player should use the Switch in handheld mode:

Rock solid. I did find though that the width of the unit took a little getting used to.

I haven't got access to software to lighten the picture, but if I whack my phones brightness you can see that Nintendo have secured the wire with an L shaped connector.

I reckon the vertical long part of the L shape is hiding the recess.

That's the housing for the microSD crads

The bit at the top is where I had lifted the kickstand. I'm talking about the bit with the wire hanging out that Nintendo had bolted on.

(Just looked the desktop site. I didn't realise the pictures were coming out so big! :-/ )

Good ol' Reggie has been defending the sparse lineup by saying launch day isn't the be all and end all and that a steady drip-feed of games is better than a lot at launch. Which is fine. It just means I personally will wait until that drip-feed forms into something more than a puddle before I buy one.

Whats the point of everything launching on day one when everyone will be playing Zelda.

I think the issue is that no one gives a crap about anything else releasing until Day 56 and that's a port of 3 year old MK8 and everything else of note is due on Day TBC.

It occurs to me that you could in theory have Joypad-Controllers with different layouts and mix and match your favourites.

Say, one with a proper dpad above the analogue stick, or a right analogue stick above the buttons, or the inevitable SNES coloured buttons.

What about a GameCube style big A?

skip to the hour mark to hear interesting talk about the joycons.

He says they are more along the lines of the Oculus Rift and VR motion detail of sensing than the old Wiimotes motion plus and PS move controllers.

Syrenne is a she.

The tech does sound great.

I thought that's what the guy was going to do with his hanky magic trick during the presentation. Uncover it to reveal different versions. Kind of glad it was just the neon alternate colours.

I do wish the triggers were analogue though. Third-party racing games (as well as a HD F-Zero GX) are pretty much ruled out as a result.

Yeah, the thing Nintendo definitely needs is another confusing lineup of about 2 million different controllers for one console.

The Wii U is a disaster in this regard. When I play MK8 at the in laws, invariably someone has forgotten the controls and telling them which button to press is so confusing because everyone is using a different controller, "Z" means nothing to anyone, the kids have to turn the Gamepad over and look at the triggers to tell which one is which. Some people are using Wiimotes with motion control and don't know why they can't use the d-pad. It's a horror show.

It annoys me that they haven't changed their controller naming convention for the Switch. Having you X/Y and A/B in different positions to the Xbox is just confusing*, and ZR/ZL is just a horrible idea all around.

*I realise they got there first with this but at least having coloured buttons would help a lot with my confusion - whenever they tell me to press X, I hit Y.
