Does anyone know whether you'd be able to output to a TV without the dock? Would be pretty handy for when you're travelling.

The big question for me is whether we'll be able to share a digital software library between multiple household consoles. I don't fancy paying for everything twice.

You've missed out on the best game since Splatoon

I'll definitely get around to it once I have a PC that can give it true 60fps justice. I can eventually solve that later in the year by using company funds, so it's all good.

I wonder what would happen if you plugged in an apple USB C > HDMI dongle.

I watched a bit of that before realising it was literally someone analysing the UI based on video, rather than having used it themselves, and that if I want to draw conclusions based on screenshots I can do that all on my own. However, it also made me doubt myself on one thing: UI. Or, specifically, how to pronounce it. I've always assumed that it's pronounced "You-Ee", and whenever I've heard anyone use the "You-Aye" pronunciation I just assumed that was an Americanism. But the guy doing that video, he... er, didn't sound American.

So, have I been wrong all along? Is it always meant to be pronounced You-Aye rather than You-Ee? Inquiring minds must know!

I see the Switch as the Switch. Something to play games and have fun.

The console can be at home or not

The games can be from Nintendo or not.

Games can be super deep or not.

You can play alone or not.

the Switch is the superversatile machine. But at the same time is very specialized in gaming.

With their super advanced  joycons it puts the  tablet "on-screen gamepads" solution to the most absolute shame.

The Switch is the Nintendo masterpiece.

People are moaning tin the internet because they want one. And They want to pay less. With the Wii U all you got was indifference.

Well, shit. Tripped up by romance language learning yet again :(

I've never played it before.

I'm always cautious of indie games. The only one that has really struck a chord with me so far is World of Goo. Miami is great, of course, but WoG is the only one I could mistake for a mainstream studio release.

I've never been a huge fan of BOI, and I particularly imagine you wouldn't enjoy it if you like your games to feel polished - it's a well-designed game to be sure, and everything in it is by design, but it's an intentionally scrappy-feeling design, and I get the feeling you mightn't get on with that.

It's a shame because I've yet to try DOOM because of that.

You should... probably try DOOM. I wouldn't really call it 'AAA' anyway; the connotations of that term, to me at least, always suggest huge amounts of money spent on making games 'epic' in some way: scale and/or storyline. DOOM doesn't feel like that at all (and I can't imagine its budget approaches any games like COD) - it's tight and frenetic, a pure focus on mechanics. If Nintendo made ultraviolent shooters, DOOM is the game they'd make.

It's U eye due to it standing for User Interface....U.I. Bloody americans slaughtering our language.

If you're about to tell me that interface is pronounced 'ayenterface' I think I'll just sink into the depths of the earth with shame.

Some people say "gooey" in place of GUI, but I've never heard "UI" wordified in that way.

As for the Switch, I have a pre-order but I'm leaning towards cancelling at the moment. I think the device looks fantastic, and I'll be playing BotW on a Switch for sure, but the release schedule is looking worryingly scarce after that. I'd probably pick up MK8 DX, but I've already got the Wii U version with all the DLC so it wouldn't add much I don't already have, and then it's really just Mario Odyssey at the end of the year. I guess the question is how much do I want to play a new Zelda game on the move?

Whilst I accept that as partly logical I on its own as a capital is always pronounced eye and not ee

Hang on you said U eye too...where's the linguistic slaughter exactly, other than Wiper having an odd idea of pronunciation?

Although I have heard people say 'GUI' as 'gooey' like it rhymes with 'chewie'.

Ah, so that is (relatively) normal? I'm guessing that's probably where I got UI from - I've always pronounced GUI as Gyou-Ee too, so it would have seemed logical to me that UI would be pronounced the same way minus the G. That, and acronyms like FIFA doing the same.

(Apologies, I've completely derailed things here. English is hard!)
