Nicked from Neogaf: TouchSense, a haptic technology, will be implemented in the Switch's touchscreen

Erm, if this is true, why the fuck wouldn't they have announced it at the presentation? Is is possible this 'haptic technology' is being confused with the HD rumble in the joycons?

They didn't announce it because Nintendo are so cool they leave important announcements out.

That would be excellent news.

Can't wait to have that wonderful sensation of touching poops in Binding of Isaac!

They barely mentioned it was a touch screen, probably to stop people getting confused or more likely muppets on here and Gaf going DOOM AND GLOOM because they never play handheld games and now its a 2 pillar system and blah blah blah shoot me

Well I've been told no to me getting one on launch (and the 3rd is my birthday) unless I sell the wii u :(. Otherwise it's wait for later in the year when the game (mario) the kids want is out.

Id be crazy to part with the wii u wouldn't I?

All because I sold both the PS4 and Xbox one s within 2 weeks of buying them.

I was going to make a crack about you being whipped, but tbh after reading that last part I'm totally on her side. Christ on a bike.

Can rumble work like the Q-sound directional sound driver that was used in the nineties. Could they balance the delicate rumble between the joycons to give the illusion the buzz comes from a certain area on the screen?

I think that's basically what Immersion's tech is about.

The cynic in me remembers that Immersion has patents on everything to do with force feedback and Nintendo might have had to licence this just because they attached force feedback pads to a tablet. Whether they intend to use it or not.

Who the hell goes to a coffee shop in the evening?

People in Holland?

Looking forward to potentially meeting up with Spainkiller for some games, finally, as well as any others offa here. I don't do pubs as any spare time I get away from the wife is spent consuming as much cannabis as possible.

Coffeeshop play should be socially acceptable as long as we sit in a corner and keep the noise down. I'd never dream of bringing one out in a Burnley pub, though. That's asking for it.

You get 2 of the controller straps in the box.

And you get straps with the separate joycons too. You don't need any, let alone 4!

Does the neon colour option come with red/blue straps, or just the black ones? I'd like to reverse the attachments for pimpage, but fuck buying another pair just to do that.

The straps aren't interchangeable, you can see in all the pics that  - goes with - + goes with + when you attach them

lol I know, we have had 4 Xbox ones so far, the PS4 was purely just to try out (I don't like the os or the controller) so I don't count that  lol.

so I can see her point, but on the flip side this is a Nintendo console so it won't be going anywhere (and the kids loved watching the released trailers on Friday)

I've never played it before.

I'm always cautious of indie games. The only one that has really struck a chord with me so far is World of Goo. Miami is great, of course, but WoG is the only one I could mistake for a mainstream studio release.

That's not true, the strap connectors can be used on either side. They have a + on the front and - on the rear or vice-versa.

Actually, I'm sure they are interchangeable. From what I can tell they have '+' on one side and '-' on the other, and the signs are there to help slide it on the right way.

The biggest 'switch' so far for me is from thinking of this as a home console you can take out and about to a handheld console you can play on a TV screen.

That first ad is to blame.

I see it as a games machine. I'm never thinking of handheld/home margins, most likely thanks to the quality that can be found on the 3DS.

Handheld gaming is always a nice little step into current generation releases based on previous generations hardware, it'll be a shame to lose that aspect, but fuck it; it'll save me some cash.

I have played and 'finished' Isaac (on the vita) and I have no idea what the game is about and what I'm doing, it was fun tho!
