It would be fun if anyone in my friend group would even consider a Nintendo console but they've not been in the running since the N64 and sadly this isn't going to change things :(

Im still on the fence, however between this and Scorpio I'm edging towards the MS megabeast as that will be backwards compatible and have a decent online system with 4 free game every month.

Apples and oranges but I can only justify one new console this year.

Scorpio probably won't cost much more than a Switch. A 4K telly on the other hand..

I'm not sure if I'm falling for the bait here but if it's supposed to be more powerful than a PS4 Pro (which is already 400eu) then you can bet yer bottom quid that the Scorpio will be priced even higher.

<wags finger> that's not bait. I can see it costing the same as a Pro did at launch, so £350 or something. More than a Switch but then add in your games and extras for a Switch and it won't be far off.

I'm in the same boat but for me it has to be a Switch as I can't pass up the new Zelda, Mario etc. and besides I can't afford a 4K TV. I'll make do with my standard Bone.

But...add in the games and extras for a Scorpio and you're back to being far off again.

Oh for sure, I'm not convinced that the third party line will be there for years 2/3.

I was really interested in the Switch as it took my fav feature from the Wii U (off screen play) and taken it to a new level.

Its just a shame that the games aren't there yet.

Well that all depends if you're upgrading to a Scorpio or starting afresh. But even if it's the latter you'll be swimming in games for very little outlay.

Going back to seriousness for a moment... What is the policy on DEAD PIXELS these days?

Are the Switches screens even susceptible to that old fault?

I would presume they would be. This is the reason I pre ordered with Amazon, I've always felt quite secure that if there's a dead pixel I can return it without question for a replacement. My position never changes on dead pixels. If I'm buying a new device I expect it to be perfect. One dead pixel means a replacement, for me anyway.

Good point yeah. It's actually quite a tempting prospect, like picking up a console toward the end of a gen and catching up with all the good games for dirt cheap, but this time with the extra shiny.

Not sure there's too much exclusive-wise for the Scorpio for me personally mind you but can see the appeal.

I can't remember the last time I got a dead pixel or one of those disclaimers on the packaging about them being acceptable. Well, I can, it was some £5 LCD mini arcade cabinet that shows up in the post-Xmas clearance bin in Debenhams every since but started showing up in around 2012 so I don't think it's really an indicator.

The UK limited edition looks OK actually. The US has two versions - one with a statue and one without. The UK version is cheaper (£89.99 vs $129.99), includes the statue, and only misses out on a map and a carry case as far as I can tell.

Worth getting I'd say. I bought the Skyward Sword LE on release for £50, and sold it on eBay last year for £50. When you've rinsed it and the download is on the Nintendo Select range for 15 quid, you can sell this one and get your money back.

It's the carry case and the map that I want. Not interested in the statue :(

And sell a game? Sell a game? What the fuck?

Well I've been told no to me getting one on launch (and the 3rd is my birthday) unless I sell the wii u :(. Otherwise it's wait for later in the year when the game (mario) the kids want is out.

Id be crazy to part with the wii u wouldn't I?

All because I sold both the PS4 and Xbox one s within 2 weeks of buying them.

Nah, id say 350 and a 425 elite edition with pad.

If the Scorpio is actually packing a GPU capable of 6 tflops, that's nearly equivalent to a GTX 1070, which is a 6.5tflops GPU.  And it costs over $400 US for the GPU alone.

I don't see the Scorpio being even remotely cheap with a 6tflops of power unless they're selling it at a significant loss.  But I might guess it's 425 pounds standard and $500 US.

Certain not 350 though.

So then?

How likely is the Switch console [some of us are about to purchase] going to be overhauled,

and released more energy efficient thinner and better within two years, like every other buggering item?

* Or dead for the jokers out there ;)

i keep putting the thought out my head! ... but here it is again.

For a Nintendo handheld it looks spot on as a first revision, doesn't look like the beta version like the DS / 3DS but at some point it will of course get a revision at some point but you can't  be worrying about such things!

Much like the Scorpio, by the time it comes out you will have long since forgotten the Switch purchase and can buy a Scorpio too!
