My thoughts exactly.

If Nintendo were smart they'd coax all of those Steam indies into releasing on the Switch as well. Chariot, Nidhogg (2), Last Fight, Windjammers, Worms, Gang Beasts, etc would be all be perfect on this.

In any case, I will buy the fuck out of that physical release of BoI. :omg:

MVC Infinite would have been a great 3rd party addition to the presentation and perfect for the console. Hopefully something gets announced in the future.

Crikey! i wondered what happened to him!

Yeah.

Anyway Bloodworth has been very positive about the HD-rumble and Pro Controller. I didn't realise it also had all of the accelerometer/gyro functionality inside. Still too pricey though.

i assume they use the internal flash memory for game saves rather than the cartridge, otherwise they'd have to implement a complementary system when saving from downloaded rather than physical games.

Also Nintendo hasn't really a history of updating/patching games.

Their games are getting bigger.. more bugs and glitches to look out for.

It's likely they're going to do a lot more patching this generation.

Also, 3DS games saved to the cartridges, and it had internal flash memory in the system, with the option to copy saves to your system as a backup.  So it makes sense they'd do the same with cartridges on the Switch.  But since capacity is larger on these new carts and games are going to be bigger and more likely to encounter bugs and other issues, it makes sense to use the extra capacity to store patches on the carts as well.

But I'm very confident that at least the saves will be stored on the cartridges.

I am hoping they store patches/updates as well.  Otherwise it really restricts what we can store on the internal memory of the system, and it seems like the extra cart storage is wasted.

I'm the last person you'd expect to hear this from but I'm really looking forward to FIFA on this. I like the idea of handing one Joycon to some random scrote I meet on my travels and having a couple of games. Loads of people play it and I don't mind getting thrashed at sports games.

When is it out?

I do need to be careful however. Baby #1 is on the way and I can't take the piss with spending, really. I've still got a WiiU backlog to iron out. :(

You were also very confident the Switch would be a phone

No I wasn't.  Go read my post.. I said they should make it smaller and give it mobile features later on, if it becomes successful.  I never once thought it was going to be a mobile device from the start.

Oh OK.

Would be handy when trying to play online games if you could run the smartphone app on the unit itself :)

Anyway, definitely sold on the hardware by now. Now all we need is some games.

Yea if anything, I think it would've been nice to have 4G/4G LTE capabilities to have a constant internet connection no matter where you went if you chose to enable it with a service provider.

I would have 100% added it to my phone plan.  I get a free 'line' for mobile internet on my current plan, that I've yet to use.

But they sell portable hotspot routers that connect to 4G now.  May just get one of those added to my plan so I'm not draining my phone battery using the hotspot available on it.

Let me tell you how pubs work over here. They're full of blokes and if you pulled out a 3DS you'd be instantly called into the car park for a fight. Tell them it's not a make-up vanity case you were grinning into before you lose your teeth, if you can.

And then you play after you win the fight.
