BarryL85
Anyone decided on a memory card? I had a look at the 256gb prices and almost fainted, probably stick with a 128gb ~£30 range.
dataDave
I'll only really need a 64gb one. Carrying more than three or four games around with me is total overkill as I generally only play one at one time. The bigger question is am I going digital-only or not. Still undecided on that, there are too many factors to weigh up.
MikeBeaver
I'll stick to the internal or anoter 32gb tbh, I'll be ALL in on physical media as per usual.
joffocakes
I'll probably get a decent capacity card since I'm likely to get a few games digitally. Mario Kart would be one, Ultra Street Fighter II would be another; games I'd return to and would always want on hand for multiplayer. I have 1, 2 Switch preordered but I think I'll likely get that digital too.

Gonna stick my neck out and say that it's because Nintendo want to make more money.
dataDave
There's no way 1-2-Switch won't be back-peddled into a download code pack-in as long as everyone kicks up enough of a stink. They're just fucking trying it, and I bet they have 'after thought' stickers for the retail console boxes already lined up. Stick it to the cunts.

Not true. They are making more money now per year than before. The transitional period from PPV to Network and the cost of setting it up meant they had a few years of lower profits, but it's all good now that the subscriber base has built up.

Alright Billy Big Bollocks. Care to elaborate or do we just have to take your word for it? It's what I've heard from people I've spoke to, and what's the latest with all those artists complaining how little money they get from Spotify? And the reluctant labels that didn't want to sign up to it a few years ago?

Streaming has plugged the decline in physical and digital sales in music to the point where we're now back in strong growth. It also makes up 80% of the UK singles market. Some artists will complain because they have either signed bad deals with their label or have ulterior motives (here's a primer). Quote Paid music-streaming revenues in the UK grew by 65.1% to £418.5m last year, according to the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) in its latest annual figures. That helped music revenues overall grow faster than games and video in the UK in 2016, even if music still lags behind those categories in value terms. Music spending was up by 4.6% to a value of £1.1bn, with streaming the driving force. While there was a token nod in the reporting to the “vinyl revival” – which is, frankly, just an interesting niche rather than a fast-track to recovery – it was all about streaming for music in 2016. Revenues jumped from £253.5m in 2015 to £418.5m in 2016. Source: http://musically.com/2017/01/05/paid-music-streaming-was-worth-418-5m-in-the-uk-in-2016/ Well done on finding some fringe examples of holdouts, and some labels will always have caveats, but to summarise, music streaming and the subscription based availability of music as a whole has more or less saved the industry I work in.

Sarlaccfood
@David Heath I'm.....not arguing it isn't successful. I'm saying the music industry had to reluctantly turn to it because of widespread piracy and (as you mention) the decline in physical sales. If people still bought music in the same way people still buy games (downloads and physical media) there would be no Spotify. Anyway I'd love it if Nintendo did something similar, I'm just not sure they feel they need to.

Could be a winner then yeah. I don't really know the numbers involved. Well I 'liked' it but it didn't blow me away. Zelda was the only title there which I thought merited its price and expectation. Goodness knows how the other launch games will do because they were, well just non entities. 1, 2, Switch was a travesty tbh. Just completely hollow as a game experience. I'd put it in the same league as that Face Raiders game that shipped with the 3DS. But worse. I don't know what the big third parties must be thinking currently. Because the lack of a geniune eco system of developers will mean a sort of hyper Nintendo vaccum. Basically the old wives tale of Nintendo games only selling on Nintendo systems, becomes fundamentally true. For reals this time. If I was EA or Bethesda or Capcom etc I'd be thinking, sod this for a game of cards. Why develop for a machine whos userbase is totally dominated by Nintendo fanatics, who basically just want Nintendo games. Because other types of players, those that will buy third party games or are expecting to etc, they'll be non existant on Switch. Cos they'll be playing on their PS4's and Xbones.

Sarlaccfood
Yeah that's a shame gizmo thought it was a travesty. We enjoyed it and it seemed to be getting a good reaction from people on the floor. It's a good concept, god help them if they charge £40 for it though. I agree it should be a pack-in.
