Amazon UK sold out in just a bout 5hrs after the presentation which is impressive considering it was held at 4am.

Haven't seen many other retailers with the same sold out message though, so I assume most still have stock allocations.

Scalpers dont need to see the presentation, unfortunately that will be who made it sell out.

Games will cost you £60 on average, less for smaller ones. They are, on average, significantly less on other platforms (including nintendos).

Not true on that one

You can get Zelda for £50 and Mario Kart for £45

You can't charge it when it's in table top mode away from the dock because the charger doesn't fit? (Though I imagine you could sub with your own USB C cable that is more flexible but still)

The joy con grip included doesn't charge and you can only charge the joy cons when the switch is docked. Not when the switch is in handheld mode and plugged in?

1) While it's physically standing on its USB-C port, you won't be able to plug in any kind of cable, but you can just lay the console flat and get around that.

2) No doubt you can charge when it's in handheld mode and it's plugged in.

I've made up my mind anyway, not that anyone would have been on tender hooks waiting for it.

My PS4 Pro - within a month people were getting it off Very for 50 quid off.

TLG - the special edition statue was shite, had to fix it up, got a foreign game in the box I had to exchange.

COW IW - lucky I got mine cheap, but within a month it was heavily discounted.

Titanfall 2 - bought a month after launch for 22 quid.

I'm done overpaying at launch with the fear of missing out. You don't miss out, in fact the opposite, you save money by hanging on. Early adopters have been getting rinsed for a while now, and this is my official exit from that. I might get one for Mariokart, which is almost 2 months after launch. I'm not queuing up to GAME or placing Amazon orders for 400 quid and up for a console + game + pad any more, literally lining up to over pay for goods, never mind this pay per play online thing.

Console looks good, will be great to get back into Mariokart, but I'm going to learn the lessons of 2016 and not just throw all my money at them on day one.

People who have had hands on say the dogface does include a port to charge the joycons.

It's already been posted in this thread that there are two kinds of the "Dogface", the Charging Grip and the Grip. The latter comes with the console and doesn't have a charging port, it's just plastic.

I'm going on amazon RRP prices. You can probably hunt down a bargain but that's not going to be widespread.

It's going to exactly like the PS4/XboxOne launch window.  People trying to charge the stupid prices and then eventually competition forcing the price to be something normal.

I see that now. I guess it would be hard to put a charger cable anywhere else without resorting to making a second one for that mode. Or they could have done a pull out cradle stand that lifts it up an inch or two.

Yeah it took me fucking ages to HUNT DOWN the price of games at Argos and Game Collection.

Amazon will inevitably reduce their prices to sensible levels.

I know I shouldn't by one on launch but I've got nigh on £80 credit at GAME and this thing does look tempting. Would be a great diversion for night shifts.

Same here, have a mario kart buddy already pre ordered with me but my god full fat zelda playable anywhere :omg:

You say this, but I do all my PS4 friend/message management on my iPhone even if I'm on my PS4 itself. It's just easier.

I do this, esp as its now obvious the base ps4 can't cope with the new OS designed for Pro - it takes almost 20 seconds to save a game clip in TF2 now and its pretty instant on a pro - ps4 app is on the home screen of my phone!

I use the PSN and Xbox apps a bunch as well. An optional smartphone app that supplements the functionality that exists on the console is a good thing. A mandatory one that replaces it, not so much.

But as said here its good to have it, most odd that its only on the phone - bizarre infact!

The joycon has 20 hour life apparently... you can power the entire console from a USB power pack.

I'm lucky to get 4 hours out of my phone!!!!

You need a new phone!

It's hardly unusual, especially for a brand new console. PS4 games had rrp's of £59.99 or more at release. I've never paid more than £45, and usually under £30.

I'm not debating your elite googling skills here.

It's the RRP that gets reported and put on the price tags at Game and HMV.

My partner has offered to pay for my Switch as an early birthday present for me. So I've ordered Zelda: Special Edition for myself and as soon as I find a place selling it, I'm getting I Am Setsuna (always wanted the Vita version and was gutted it never got a western release). I know people are unhappy with things given its Nintendo's next console, but given I prefer handheld gaming, I can't wait for it. :D

20 seconds? I saved a 10 minute clip yesterday - it took no perceptible amount of time.

You need a new PS4!

Apart from people in the Zelda thread posting stuff about Zelda running significantly better on Switch, Nintendo have confirmed that MK8 will be native 1080p. It's 720p on Wii U.

Looks like Switch might be a marked step up from Wii U (though lack of 4K upscaling is slightly disappointing).
