I think my morning glory has worn off and I'm starting to think more sensibly. I don't have time to play the games I already own, so there's not much point paying £300-odd for another Zelda, no matter how good it is.

Time to cancel the preorder and come back later when it's a bit cheaper/has a few more must-buy games/has a not-insane online service.

I know what you mean, but for me this allows me to play TV games whilst watching the TV - when I would usually be reading about games on an iPad.

Reading the Switch thread on SA, people on there saying reports are coming in that Zelda runs better on the Wii U than the Switch, if it makes you feel better.

That ridiculous if true. I could, sort of, understand that in handheld mode but not when it's docked.

Will Wii U Pro Controllers be compatible, as they look the same? £65 for a Pro controller - fuuuuuuuck.

The console price I can deal with. The accessories, not really. I think I'd rather get a Pro controller than a £30 grip, so I don't have to slide the bits out all the time, but 65 quid.

Seems to be running just fine on the stream. Anyway the version on display at shows is apparently not finished. I dare say a more finished version is being played on the stream.

Part of me thinks Nintendo think they're fucked so just intend to gouge the early adopters and cut their losses.

its utterly bizarre, I don't get the online aspect at all. Will stick with the Wii U for now.

Also for those hoping for a discounted online, Nintendo don't do discount codes, nor do they allow the likes of CD Keys et al to discount either.

But CD Keys do discount. That's when I get almost all my codes from.

i'm exactly the same. i posted enthusiastically this morning but on reflection it seems the same old problems that befell the Wii U. Wish i'd kept it now to play Zelda as i aint paying £280 for a switch with seems to be a glorified ports machine. Heartbreak hotel it is then :(

I'm very disappointed. I think this might be my combo breaker as I've bought every Nintendo console since the Gamecube.

Can someone just briefly recap the online thing as I think I've made it up in my head. Nobody could come up with that could they?

How come I purchased Mario Kart 7 and New Super Mario Bros 2 for somewhere between £15 & £20 each from CD Keys when they were still £40 on the eshop?

Because they were stolen credit card-bought, apparently. Amazed nobody has picked this up before.

£28 for a wired controller. Wired? Crazy nowadays. It'll probably be the 3ft long too to force you to go wireless.

It's going to have online play behind a paywall, ala PSN/XBL, except it's only in the US, Canada and Mexico at launch. I think we're scheduled to to get it in the autumn. Like XBL/PSN to try and sweeten the deal they're offering 'free' games, except where those services tend to give you two or three newish releases a month, Nintendo will be giving you a single NES or SNES game. On those services the games are yours to play as long as you subscribe to the service. Nintendo will withdraw access at the end of the month and you have to buy it if you want to continue playing it. To use functions like voice chat and other basic sounding functionality you have to download an app on your smartphone/tablet, so a bit like Skype except you have to pay Nintendo for the privilege. Presumably the result of them getting an F2P phone app business to make their new online service for them. I think that's about what we know.

Apparently other people steal them, but cards, and sell them to CD Keys.

Thats quite the allegation.

I mean I know thats the more plausible answer but every time it comes up on other sites its pointed out that the codes from shady sites that the names I can't recall get pulled they don't from cdkeys...

I mean I know it can't be true but apparently they get all their codes in some fangled 'bulk buy' new launch games are heavily discounted as 'promotional' by publishers and sold in bulk, others are given to youtubers with further distributed to give away etc.

All part of something called 'marketing' but it does sound unlikely, I imagine its either a terrorist cell or the mafia and this is just a smoke screen no matter what all the publishers say.

Has there been anything reported about the absence of Capcom and Namco? Their type of titles are what I'm really missing if Nintendo insist on this Japan centric third party love in. A proper traditional Ridge on this would be amazing. As it is, this console is shaping up to be literally a 'Nintendo games only' machine. Blah blah, it's always been like this.. like hell it has! I don't care how good Zelda is, if there'd had been a kick arse Ridge at release I would probably have ended up breaking my one game rule. Or at the very least made one of them my next purchase.
