It's the same every time.

 

Nintendo have a new console on the horizon and put the feelers out with a sensible price that might just entice the mainstream. Nintendo fans gets into such a froth of aniticipation that Nintendo think hey, this is going to be a smash hit and slap on an extra £50 in a sudden burst of overconfident greed.

 

Once the fans have it, sales fall off a cliff because it's too expensive for everyone else. Nintendo slash £50 off the RRP.

 

Despite doing this videogame thing longer than anyone, Nintendo somehow completely cock up their schedules for the rest of the year, all major releases get delayed to 2018, and they go into Christmas with Skyward Sword HD, Mario Party 26, and an Animal Crossing spin off that upsets even that games most devoted fans.

 

The console ends up with the best games of the generation, all released at the very start or the very end of its life, and almost no one plays them except the fans, who are already anticipating Nintendo's new console on the horizon..

Neither do I, I got MH3 for the 3DS and it was cumbersome and not really my thing.

I am however happy it exists and that lots of people like / buy it, has that has a knock on effect of selling shit loads of Nintendo systems and helps to keep them coming, MH for Switch WILL shift consoles, this is a very good thing :)

This is my long term prediction.

The Switch will be a massive success in Japan, up to the point that it will kick their industry back into shape.

A lot of good, western appealing "AA" japanese games will come to the West for switch. That together with indies will make the Switch an interesting choice. edit: I forgot nintendo first party games as a factor to make the Switch appealing, that is interesting. 

EA, UBi, Activision, with no good AAA sales in multiplatform traditional market  will have to decide what to do.

I am tempted to go tomorrow to the local Game and put 50 quid down on a preorder.

I know, I know. Game is bad, but I kinda like to go there and pick it on launch day.

 

In theory you can already preorder at game, but I guess they only have a ordered list of preorders with no confirmed allocated united.

How safe is preordering now at game?

Preordering only costs £20 now, or it did two weeks ago when I did it. 

 

Girl behind the counter said that preordering now would *guarantee* me a console on launch, but we'll see what happens. 

 

There was no mention / push to preorder any games, which was a surprise & obviously no mention of bundles, someone will call me once things are revealed.

Pretty excited by the HORI arcade stick being one of those leaked peripherals. I absolutely do not need another stick but I expect Switch will see versions of Tekken 7, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and possibly Marvel 3 since someone pointed out to me that the PC and Xbox One re-releases of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 are in March.

 

I'm busy fantasising that it means Virtua Fighter 6/Capcom vs Nintendo/Darkstalkers though.

I am thinking of preordering today at game. To avoid fanboy rush friday.

Also the 13 yo within says It is fun to pick the console on launch day.

 

Are they normally serious with their preorders? I assume they dont have allocation numbers yet so it is a question of trust.
