Sorry to interrupt all the fun (and posting of NSFW content in the thread FFS), but another Switch game has been uncovered:

Former PS4 exclusive Rime has been rated for multiple platforms by the Brazilian Advisory Board, including PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Why on earth not? If I had a pre-order with them (which I don't) and they pulled that on me because Switch launched elsewhere at say £3-400, I'd deffo not just roll over and take it. As Clipper said, they'd not really have much of a leg to stand on.

They would. The contract secures a pre-order, with the price subject to change in the T&Cs. If the price goes up they'll offer you the choice of paying the extra and retaining your pre-order (contracted), or withdrawing from the contract to receive a refund.

They have to explicitly guarantee a price for this not to hold.

Ahem. EXCITE TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

https://mynintendonews.com/2016/12/13/nintendo-has-filed-a-trademark-application-for-excite-truck/

I hope this will be a Switch game rather than a mobile game.

I know, it was rough as assholes on the Wii but it was so much fun and using your own mp3s as the soundtrack was inspired; going 10 million miles an hour and doing ridiculous jumps in monster trucks to White Zombie and Soulfly was my idea of fun when this came out for the Wii. It was brilliant. Only Pure for the 360 came close.

Switch VC title? (Maybe it can do Wii titles and has gyroscopes in the joycons?)

God I loved that game. Custom soundtrack, mental speed. Just brilliant fun.

Isn't it just some kind of renewal because the original Excite Truck was released 10 years ago and the trademark would otherwise lapse?

:(

@Hellcock I thought it was $250 or £200. Was that just a rumour? I've looked around and it's a speculative price on all the usual news places for gaming so I suppose it is a rumour; Gamestop has a price holder of £399. If it's much more expensive that the current Xbox One S and the PS4, I'd be surprised. Obviously the cheaper the better. Are Nintendo going to go for a break even on the hardware this time? It's only three months away :omg:

I don't think the rumoured 200 standalone or 250 with Splatoon+more memory is too far fetched a price really, given what we know about the hardware. I think anything above 300 and they'd be sending the console out to die given the current prices of the One S and PS4.

Have you got a source no one else has?

Wall street journal m8.

"Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki has attended the recent financial results briefing and has posted the following quotes on Twitter, attributed to Kimishima:

On Switch: Nintendo CEO says company won't make loss by selling it; but also listening to what consumers expect from us when setting price."

I thought Nintendo hasn't been selling consoles at a loss for ages. Considering the Wii U, which is pretty much officially a dead system by now,  is still more expensive than many PS4 or Xbone bundles, I'd say the low prices for the Switch mentioned here seem rather optimistic.

The Wii U was sold at a loss at launch.

Erm...they are explicitly guaranteeing a price. It's £198:50 - guaranteed not to go up even if the launch price does. It's very clearly stated.

With our Pre-order Price Guarantee, you can order now and if the GameSeek price increases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lower price.

Nintendo rarely sell hardware at a loss.
