What game is this? It looks really nice.

It's called 'Seasons of Heaven' apparently. Here's some spiel:

Quote

One of America’s great authors, Louis L’Amour once said, “There will come a time when you believe that everything is finished. Yet, that will be the beginning.” In Seasons of Heaven that is exactly what a small group of people who find themselves survivors of the greatest purge every known will ultimately come to realize. In their struggles to survive on a stripped and barren earth, they will learn that humans across the world literally died as a result of their own careless actions.

Centuries of lying waste to the very land that sustained them was what would kill them in the end. The animals would be killed and eaten into extinction. The water needed to sustain all life would be polluted until it was undrinkable, and the air would be filled with waste that would suffocate the oxygen that was vital to their survival and the survival of everything else on earth. As the survivors learn to survive in a whole new world they will have to remember that the very things that gave their fellow humans a sense of superiority and even omnipotence were what had killed them in the end.

Seasons of Heaven will take you from deep inside of a mystical forest at the beginning of time all the way through to the twenty-first century and the fall of civilization. It will take you on a journey with Yann, a young boy with Asperger’s syndrome and his faithful companion, Ani, a French bulldog who Yann is able to communicate with through telepathy. As you follow along on their journey you’ll have the opportunity to meet the rest of the major players and bear witness to the enlightenment of some and the demise of others. This story will allow you to experience the awe of discovering the most beautiful, magical place that ever existed while at the same time staying only one step ahead of the dark and vile underbelly of the human race.

I think, what it is, is an independent developer releasing a few screenshots for a game that does not and will never exist. By saying it's a Switch exclusive they are guaranteeing exposure for their company.

I think they are a bit more serious than that. They've been working with Nintendo at least:

And they are most likely going to be showing it in Jan:

That sounds dreadful. Who do they expect to sell this thing to? It'll be perceived as a tablet (fairly), and you can get Kindle Fires for peanuts and share purchases across a family account, not to mention essentially unlimited games with that kids subscription thing.

Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered, but that statement above stuck out to me as a hard sell for Nintendo.

They show their target audience demographic in the reveal video - 18-35 year olds who want to play a game by themselves at home or on a plane, or want to have shared gaming with similar 18-35 year olds at either a rooftop party or the back of a Type 25 VW campervan (has to be Type 25, the older VW campervan model is for 40+ year olds.)

Sounds a similar concept to the cultish sci fi short story/film 'A Boy and His Dog'...about a boy who can communicate telepathically with his dog in a post-apocalyptic future. Looks more green than the film, though.

If it had the same themes as that film, the average gamer would lap it up, post-apocalypse, mutants, various factions, etc. As a game, it's basically Fallout where you can talk to your dog companion in a language you both can understand, pre-ordered.

Samurai Mario is definitely going to be a thing/power-up:

Except the T-shirt has a Super Mario Run logo at the bottom. :hmm: Someone on Neogaf said it had something to with a play on words... that I can't remember.

Someone in the comments of that story said "Someone mentioned it’s a reference to the 1985 Japanese movie "Ran":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ran_(film)

You can see the Kanji on his shirt matches the Kanji on the movie poster, it’s a play on words with "Super Mario RAN" instead of "Super Mario Run", since they sound pretty similar in Japanese."

Which was similar to what the Gaffer said, but they didn't mention the film.

Mario slowly realises that he's in an entertainment product and him and his friends have been slaughtered again and again for gamers' amusement. At the end you break out and go to Nintendo HQ and a bunch of toads slaughter devs while Mario violently jumps up and down on Miyamoto's head.
