If only there was some way already to play Pokemon games at home.

You know what I meant, would love something like the gamecube gameboy adaptor to play 3DS games on the tv.

Doesn't the Mario rumour stuff sound like some kind of mashup between full 3D and the 2.5D of New Mario..? So a 3D level select map but 2.5d gameplay levels?

I really hope not as I'm not a huge fan of the new Mario bros games. I appreciate the level design but I just can't 'love' the games due to their sterile art style. Sterile imo of course.

Plus of course I was hoping for a more radical update or at least a proper full 3D Mario like Galaxy or 64.

Nice as that would be, why can't you just play them on a 3DS?

Because kids, I'm not falling into the trap of needing to buy more consoles because the kids have nicked mine.

Not sure where you're getting that from.

"The title will apparently feature a 3D open world hub from which different worlds can be selected, with multiple objectives to complete in each, much like Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy. This may seem obvious, but we share this information to specify that this will not be a Super Mario 3D World-style game where the action is in 3D, but each stage is a linear path designed to be completed a single time."

But that wasn't the case in SMW3D either. Multiple routes, multiple goals, hidden items (some of which you could only reach with powerups from other levels)...

Well, I'm getting it from the bits you've bolded!

Maybe I'm getting the wrong end of the stick. If so I'll be very happy.

Yeah, I think we're just reading it differently I guess, 'cos reading that it sounds like a return to the Mario 64/Galaxy style to me. :)

Super Mario 3D World is my least favourite mainstream Mario game, so I welcome a return to 64 though I'd rather it was a new Galaxy game.

Try 3D World in multiplayer if you can, it really comes alive as a game. The design choice of reusing the template of Super Mario 3D Land for a console game makes more sense then.

(Disclaimer: Super Mario 3D World is by far my favourite Wii U game.)

Splatoon pack-in is a good choice. I hope the extra power allows for more fluid liquid physics. I suspect it won't.

More fluid liquid physics sounds interesting - what kind of liquidy things do you have in mind ?

Super Mario 3D World is basically the ultimate refinement of the Mario template in 3D, and undoubtedly my favourite 3D Mario. The Game Maker's Toolkit video about it does a great job of explaining why. It's absolutely full of ideas, and without an ounce of fat. The fact that you can chuck it on with a few mates in tow makes it even better.

Far more about platformy dexterity too. It's the most Mario-y 3D Mario that there is, although I wish it had full analogue control as opposed to the 8-way set-up (I realise this would impact on other players not being able to use Wiimotes in multiplayer etc). I missed the triple-jump too, although I suppose the levels were designed without it in mind.

According to sources close to Nintendo, the Switch version of Mario Kart 8 will feature tons of exclusive content including brand new tracks, new playable characters, and a new-and-improved battle mode. That’s right, Nintendo listened to everyone’s criticisms about Mario Kart 8’s battle mode.

Mario Kart has completed development, and it’s planned to be released within the first three months of Switch’s launch.

Yeah I get asked to stream Splatoon a lot but it's not something that has really interested me much. I tried the weekend free trials but thats about it. If i have to pay extra to get the deluxe model of the switch, well i guess i'll give splatoon more of a go.
