edit: I don't care much about the machine's power, FWIW. None of us were realistically expecting a technical behemoth of a machine.

I'm realistically expecting easily the most powerful handheld machine ever released...

Yep, a new Mario as a launch title definitely makes more business sense, especially as he'll be fresh in people's minds from Super Mario Run, which they'll no doubt cross market the shit out of. Clever moves from Nintendo.

Or maybe Switch's major launch title will be Super Mario Run.

I wish Nintendo would show us something more to be excited about. I feel like we all lament Zelda not making it for launch, but mostly because it's only the only thing we know is coming out for the Switch. E3 was a deluge of BotW game play. If we had something else to pine for I think we'd all get over this a lot quicker.

The title will apparently feature a 3D open world hub from which different worlds can be selected, with multiple objectives to complete in each, much like Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy. This may seem obvious, but we share this information to specify that this will not be a Super Mario 3D World-style game where the action is in 3D, but each stage is a linear path designed to be completed a single time.

A Pokemon title, not Pokken, (Pokemon Sun/Moon port?) rumoured as an early title too.

If this happens I will be in day one, this is what I want the 3DS games to appear on the home console.

I think an actual modern game and not a last-gen tart up would get that across better, but maybe it can't run them, we still don't really know.

I personally would prefer that, but I'm not sure anything would carry the same shorthand in the public's mind. Skyrim is a such well-known big RPG name.

Maybe Mass Effect Andromeda, but yeah it's really questionable if it can run it. (I'm guessing no)

To be fair, we don't know what the rest of the launch offering is yet. Maybe EA are going to have BF1 ready for launch. Skyrim might be a last gen game, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an absolutely massive game which you can now play on a handheld if you want. That's a pretty big statement of intent.

The Switch version of Mario Kart 8 will contain all of the previous Wii U content (tracks, characters) plus all of the Wii U DLC. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since the three minute Switch teaser showed two players racing through one of Mario Kart 8’s DLC tracks — GCN Yoshi Circuit. For those 3DS owners who skipped out on the Wii U, the Switch version of Mario Kart 8 should be a very tempting offer.

But why should Wii U owners care?

According to sources close to Nintendo, the Switch version of Mario Kart 8 will feature tons of exclusive content including brand new tracks, new playable characters, and a new-and-improved battle mode. That’s right, Nintendo listened to everyone’s criticisms about Mario Kart 8’s battle mode.
