No, but what about all the rumours that *didn't* happen?

Until there are hard facts, rumours are no better than made up bollocks.

Rumours that didn't happen were discredited and the ones corroborated by either multiple or trusted sources gained traction. So of course they're better than made up bollocks. The Switch turned out to be exactly what we've been expecting it to be - for months.

Never mind all that bollocks about SD cards, how come there's not been a single "discussion" (argument) about the cases the games will come in? If they're on a cartridge, does it mean that they'll be in 3DS or DS sized cases? Or maybe DVD sized but with a tiny cart inside them?

Personally, I hope they bring back cardboard boxes.

The only rumours to have gained traction in this thread are ones from reliable sources. Anything else has disappeared fairly fast.

So claiming that it's made up bollocks until confirmed by Nintendo is kind of stupid.

Anyway, I'm arguing with deKay :omg:

So if a rumour doesn't turn out to be true, then it wasn't made up? What, it came to someone in a dream as a message from God?

Are you not familiar with the concept of a "source"? You're being incredibly stubborn here.

Yes. I'm also familiar with the concept of facts. One rumour can be more likely than another down to source, precedence or other factors, but it isn't true until confirmed as fact.

If your source is 100% trustworthy  then it isn't a rumour, and if they're not then it isn't a fact.

So you're basically arguing that products exist in a state of quantum superposition until a PR wonk confirms them?

EDIT: Shit didn't see Saarlacfood's post. Or maybe it didn't exist until MikeBeaver observed it and quoted it below.

I'm hoping for a return of Japanese GameCube cases.

Not those crappy cardboard cases please, something like the 3DS or Vita cases is much better. Those cardboard things are usually ruined the moment you open them and completely useless to keep games in after playing.

Launch day GC box pictured just now...

Loved the size, art and everything about them - plastic cases are more practical but not as charming IMO

Who cares about game cases in the modern era anyway? Nintendo (especially in Europe) make the most generic spines so every game looks the same on your shelf, then they cover the front sleeves with age ratings and other clutter. And to round it off they stick them in a massive cardboard box with an Amiibo.

As small as possible suits me.

Small, strong and with a nice picture on the front and a name in clear print on the side is good enough for me too.

This thread's been "Squee!"-ing over GC style startup animations, fake GC style JoyCons, SNES coloured button mockups for the JoyCons, and now GC style boxes for the carts.

Why don't Nintendo cut out the middleman and just release a box that flashes up "REMEMBER YOUR CHILDHOOD?" on the screen endlessly, given that's all anyone apparently wants?

Rumour is retail units of the Switch will have four gigs of RAM. Now this may not sound too great but it's very nice for a handheld and the machine won't have to deal with the truly terrible bloat of console OS amounts which drag their ram from 8 gigs down to about 5 or less. So it's a sensilbe amount (obviously considering the power draw extra memory would have) and is a big step up from the WiiU's 2 gigs of which only 1 gig was usable in game.

Overall I'd say the system is looking to be about 3-4 times the WiiU's power as a portable which is pretty damn impressive.
