My Mii looks like me. He's tired of life yet yearns for a better tomorrow.

I always find it entertaining how Western Miis always strive for realism, yet Japanese ones always have to look like anime characters with huge eyes.

Funnily enough, I'm in Japan at the moment and have found that most of the Miis I've streetpassed are pretty bland looking, and generally the freakiest ones I've picked up over the years have been from France and Germany. I also think that the ones I tend to pick up in the UK belong to older folk.

The Mii I made on my original 3DS looks young, friendly, kind and handsome. Nowadays I prefer to unapologetically strike fear and terror into the hearts of all that pass me.

Why the hell do people hate Miis? What's to dislike? I fucking love my Mii, and would gladly use it in every game if they'd let me. EVERY game, no exceptions. It fits beautifully in Mario Kart alongside Link and Isabelle, and it would be just as good in Need For Speed as far as I'm concerned. I don't care how out of place it looks, I'd be quite happy to run around Battlefield 1 going "Yahoo" and "Hahaha", emoting little dances when I get a kill.

And, why not run with this? Miitomo proved to ultimately be a bit limited, but if it became integrated with all games people would be all over it. So, I learn my first Dragon Shout in Skyrim, this unlocks the Dragonborn Helmet, which then allows me to wear this in any Mii-enabled game. Imagine a football field of Miis running around, each more ridiculously dressed than the last? What is so sacred about any game that this couldn't happen?

Kimishima talked to Bloomberg, he was surprised at the stock market's reaction to the teaser, which he wasn't expecting. More bits to attach to it apparently being revealed at a later date:

Kimishima suggested that the Switch is part of a bigger ecosystem. "It may be appropriate to call them accessories. Or it might be better to call them add-on hardware. It’s probably more correct to call them accessories. You can assume that there will be a wider array."

For the people hoping Nintendo get with the incrowd, it seems they have softened their stance on VR:

Asked whether Switch would work with hardware from other companies, Kimishima ruled out the possibility for now, but said "we are interested in VR," referring to virtual-reality technology.

"VR offers new ways of playing, but that depends on what kind of software can be played," he said. "If you ask us whether there are any possibilities, we can’t say no. It may be that we will build VR software titles, I think that opportunity is available to us."

I find the fact that he wasn't expecting the markets reaction to the machine, a little odd. The markets don't like risk/uncertainty. They'd of only been happy if the reveal trailer announced Nintendo's decision to go mobile or some obvious lightning in a bottle freak idea. Announcing this hybrid system, not releasing specs, not releasing confirmed titles, not giving the market the tools to acsertain how this machine MAY perform, leaves many questions. Hence the understandable market reaction.

Eurogamer stating that the screen is indeed multitouch and that one of the joy cons has an IR sensor to replicate touch control when it's docked.

My sinister-sense is tingling. I hope this doesn't mean you can only use the pointer with your right hand, which is 100% guaranteed to be the one with the pointer in if they only put it in one.

Don't ignore your southpaw customers Nintendo!

They don't need to ignore us... as a fellow southpaw, I'm perfectly fine with using the pointer with my right hand.  Did that on the Wii for years, anyway.

Plus you guys are forgetting:  the other joycon will probably be in your left hand, acting as a wii-nunchuck did, for some games.

But I don't think anyone is stopping you from using it left handed, if all you're doing is pointing.

Even if they're comfortable to hold the opposite way round (so the bit that attaches to the screen would be in your palm) it would still mean having the controls one way round when attached to the screen, and the other way round when separate.

I realise the ideal solution to this (imagined and possibly entirely imaginary) problem - to have an IR thingy in both controllers, with the right one active by default and a user setting to change it over to the other one - is just adding cost and complexity and so unlikely to happen.

Nintendo lost me during the Wii/DS and WiiU/3DS years, the software but primarily the hardware just did not do it for me. This looks however great, non gimmicky and solid idea. But portable skyrim and a new 3D Mario (no sign of the dreadful New Mario bros series) has me interested. I hope there is no Wii mote controls, the trailer showed a solid idea which does not need to be muddied by extra control schemes.  As someone who has no interest in the current gen or VR this I'm excited by the prospect of the Switch, the first time a console has done this since  the 360.  If it's £250 or under it's a day one for me.

Just been leaked that the port on the bottom of the switch is indeed a USB C port which is really good news as it means you could probably plug in supplemental battery packs. The system is charged through the port when in the dock. The use of USB C may mean it's fast charge compatible as well which would be arse kickingly good.

One bad point is that you obviously wouldn't be able to use the kickstand when something is plugged into it.

I suspect the touch screen is mainly there for ipad/iphone style apps, internet browsing, console management etc, and not the traditional Nitnendo AAA games, hence leaving it out of the inital trailer.

Though the odd game like Pikmin will probably use it.
