It'll have an SD card slot for local storage surely?

If it's standard SDHC then we are very limited on space and secondly it's too slow for big games that access a lot of data. If they go with SDHX then maybe but i still think it would be a better idea to have a large portion of internal memory.

How is it going to deal with eshop / dlc then? I expect the carts could have space on them for future dlc/patches but eshop stuff would need a lot of memory surely.. maybe the dock will have a hard drive too? doesn't explain how you would play those games away from home though.

Maybe something like 64GB flash on the tablet, but the dock has 1TB. You can play all your games when docked, but can transfer just some of them over for on-the-go play? For downloads, I mean. Obviously carts don't have that problem.

Waking up in a post-NX world. Crazy!

I think it'd be smart of Nintendo to push Minecraft like crazy as a launch title. Parents and kids alike will salivate by the thought of 'proper' Minecraft in the back of the car or at the holiday destination. /2 cents given

They lost the market with the WiiU because nearly everybody had a Wii and they didn't understand what a WiiU was, it was DOA because people thought it was a tablet that attached to the Wii.

This is a completely new Nintendo console, separate from the Wii.

Case in point - my friend refused to buy his kids a WiiU when he found out they could use the existing Wii-mote's "No point buying that if it's just using the same stuff they already have but with better graphics"

This offers something entirely different and it's immediately apparent from the reveal trailer that it's not a Wii.

I don't get why Nintendo fans always take it personally when people say they don't care for the games or consoles.

Like rgraves there is right into personal insults as if he's hitting back at being wounded.

This is true. My slut of an ex asked for my Wii console so she could get the Wii U attachment for the kids.

Obviously I didn't educate her or allow her to have the Wii.

I bought the kids the Wii U and became the best dad ever.

Well this is not another gamepad, you are missing the point - This is not a new take on the Wii-U - you dont have a second screen sat there doing nothing, it's in a Dock and you play on your TV - the difference is you can then take it out and continue when you're away from your TV it's not in addition to the TV.

Well...apparently investors are not happy that Nintendo has not revealed one of it's "surprises". I still think this thing is going to have a lot of focus on AR.

An android sandbox with a Nintendo curated app store maybe? Investors would love a bit of that.

Don't they already on their tablets?

Well sort of yes (although isn't that a more simplified version?). In any case, I don't think it would hurt Nintendo to market this thing as a device which does proper console Minecraft and Netflix/Youtube to boot. Everyone's happy.

I mean every device with a screen these days has streaming apps. If they want to be an alternative to people taking their tablets along to play Mario Run and watch the latest Marvel tv show then surely it'd be wise to offer these basic features.

Minecraft is owned by Microsoft now, I didn't see them on the third party partner list.

They still released it for Wii U didn't they?

I'm sorry what about what I'm saying is immature? If anything my response is the mature one. You're seriously arguing a £350 console, which enforces the purchase of a mobile tablet is a good idea for Nintendo to win back the market they lost with Wii U?

Yeah because it is a completely different proposition to the wiiu. The tablet *is* the console this time, the wiiu just had a screen attached to one controller. This is portable. The wiiu wasn't.

It's pretty simple and the 3 minute video did a great job of selling it.

Famitsu asked Nintendo about several issues regarding NS. Here is the summary of the article. As my Japanese is crappy, please tell me if there are any mistakes.

- NS is not the successor of Wii U
- NS is not backward compatible with Wii U and 3DS
- NS will be packaged with Joy-Con(L) and Joy-Con(R)
- The packaging of other accessories (like the dock) will be announced separately for different regions before launch
- Cartridge is called "Game Card" internally
- Specifications of cartridge will be announced before launch
- Battery life will be announced later. The development team aims at allowing players to play NS conveniently at places without electricity connection.
- At this moment, no information on compatibility of smartphone apps can be provided

What does your Mrs do whilst you game?

Cooks, reads, plays on her phone, plays with the kids. Loads of stuff.

I only game a few times a week though, so if she wants to watch bake off or whatever it's fine. I'll just do a bit of work on my laptop or read the forum.

I don't get why it's a problem for anyone really. It just takes a bit of balance.

That sounds like the dock is sold separately from the tablet, maybe a cheaper bundle and then a more expensive one with a dock?
