This is because of the multiplayer using the two pad parts feature. This way they work as buttons when someone is holding it sideways. Quite clever really. Anyone who cares enough for the proper D-Pad would be buying the Pro anyway.

Ah, that makes sense, was a bit worried by that D-pad. The console looks good; I'll be reserving judgement until the launch line-up is revealed but I'm loving that e-sports angle of the trailer, if the range of competitive shooters/fighters is broadened it could really work out well for Nintendo.

I'm still hoping Nintendo reveal proper tablet functionality. A proper modern OS with a full modern web browser, some sort of app store (with things like Netflix and Kindle - I don't need thousands of apps), and a media player.

So you can use it for browsing the web or reading a few pages of a book on the sofa or bus and on the same device use it to play proper full games with proper controls, rather than F2P touchscreen-limited junk.

"It's a tablet that can also play a proper full version of NBA 2K" seems like something they can sell to a mainstream audience.

Do we have anything closer on the controller - what's that square button under the 'd-pad' buttons? It has some kind of symbol on it. Is that the rumored 'Share' button?

Also, where's the flap?

On top of the tablet.

Nah it doesn't really need that according to Hello Goaty.

It looks better than I'd hoped. Was expecting something that looked like a Tonka toy. Wish they'd shown something like fire emblem too. To show it's 'what were traditionally handheld games' credentials. I mean, this is gonna replace the Wii u and DS

If they would've done that, everybody would be bitching about how it can't do "proper AAA 3D games like Knack". 2D is possible of course.

I wish they'd shown x, I wish they'd shown y. FFS - it's a single, under 5 minute advert. We will get to see a lot, lot more before it's on sale.

This week has been great for games - this and the Red Dead 2 trailer mean I am going to be spending over £1k on games next year :)

I do a lot of commuting.  2 hours every day, and then regular flights usually to That There London, at least two or three times a month.  It's the only way I managed to put 100+ hours in Monster Hunter 4U and completed Xenoblade... so this is perfect for me.  I might actually be able to get get the most out of Skyrim at last, Monster Hunter will be amazing on this as well... but the ability to take Zelda away with me then play it on telly will be fantastic.

The only problem is that I can see myself having to get more than one... as the kids are going to want one as well.
