Oh, my friends are having a roof party. I'll pop down with the Switch - that'll liven things up!

Didn't you ever take your Gamecube to parties? It had a little handle so you could!

This is Nintendo's natural evolution!

Nintendo continue to innovate.

If this thing is £300 + you might as well buy a PSVR, something that is genuinely bringing something new to the table. I don't think detachable controllers and a tablet screen with games from 2012 are really blowing many peoples socks off in comparison.

Yes! As a dog owner all I could think was "your best friend/loyal companion could be running on to a road or railway line!"

Still getting one and playing it while I walk my dog next to the motorway.

I felt like a twat when I played Pokemon Go when I took my dog out, fuck knows who would actually take out a full on handheld like that on a dog walk.

Also anyone who thinks this will be any less than 300 quid needs to reassess their lives.

If it is built on the Nvidia Shield tablets with the addition of the controller etc & is the replacement for the 3DS then it will be below £300.

I would say £249

Cautiously optimistic - it basically replaces the 3DS and the Wii U with one platform - which means they can throw their development might at a wider range of titles and keep the software flowing more than in the past hopefully.

To be honest, it just has to capture the Nintendo handheld market and it's a success - if it gets the 3DS market then they have done well, if it adds some of the home console market as well then they have a very respectable hit on their hands.

I don't portable game that much - but the thought of just taking my main console with me the odd time I do (even away on holiday etc) is pretty appealing - especially as it now won't require a whole separate game library - what I have at home, I have on the road (saves and all).

It's got possibilities...now they need to execute and deliver....

Interesting. If it's a 7 inch tablet, it's likely quite wide with the controllers on. Probably more like holding an Atari Lynx.

Not that it's crucial, but how does the GPU shape up? Presumably better then usual mobile fair if they're bringing Skyrim over.

Are you aware of what Parker actually is? and it's target market? I highly doubt it uses Parker, way too power hungry and big. Parker is destined for use in cars. The current announced version of it, the PX2, has 2 separate Nvidia dedicated graphics cards connected to it. The most interesting thing about Parker is the use of Nvidia's own CPU design, which isn't an ARM designed core.

Parker is used in cars as that is a very lucrative market at the moment. Oh and denver is based on an ARM compatable core. Parker was intended to be used in lots of things but the bottom has somewhat dropped out of the tablet market so they thought about using it in cars. Seeing as Nvidia say the switch has a custom design to it I'm willing to bet it's sort of a bodge between the X1 and X2.

Also the developer of steamheist have announced they are making games for the switch and say it's developer environment is fantastic. Seeing as it's based on nvidia stuff I'm not that surprised.

I hope you can play games with the Joy-Cons detached and down by your side, Wii style. Officially the best way of playing games.

They show someone doing that in the video. He pops the tablet onto its kickstand and then detaches the controllers and plays with them separate.

Is it just me that thinks they should have also made this 3D? Seems a completely wasted opportunity to differentiate the thing.

I think I'll skip this one to be honest. I drive to work and if you've ever walked my dogs you have fuck all chance of playing a game as the lunatics would just drag you across the floor.
