Sir Shrew on his wedding day: Well, it's OK but all the mess and waste. And I'm seeing people I don't like and I'm expected to be nice to them? This suit is uncomfortable and I'd rather be waiting at front room window ready to shout at anyone walking past the house with a smile on their face.

Sir Shrew on the birth of his first child: All that crying is giving me a headache. God, that's a lot of mess. Do I have to clean it up. What do you mean it can't even talk yet? I hope I'm not expected to look after it, it can bloody well do it itself.

Does it have wifi in the controller? They seemed focused on local experiences.

I'd imagine it will, no least so I can play online while at home (and not docked).  You can't have monster hunter without the internet!

Pricing is going to so, so important for this. If Sega knocked out the Dreamcast at 199 after the Saturn disaster and failed miserably, is history going to repeat itself with this?

To be honest, I know I'm not the target market for this (not sure who lol) but even at 199 I'd be hard pressed to hand over my cash

It's probably some form of Parker as Nvidia spent loads on that and did bugger all with it so far. Parker certainly outpowers the jaguar CPU's in the xbox/PS4.

Are you aware of what Parker actually is? and it's target market? I highly doubt it uses Parker, way too power hungry and big. Parker is destined for use in cars. The current announced version of it, the PX2, has 2 separate Nvidia dedicated graphics cards connected to it. The most interesting thing about Parker is the use of Nvidia's own CPU design, which isn't an ARM designed core.

PCs PS4s and XB1 are all pretty much the same thing. Since the WiiU died off I've been longing for a new gaming experience. In 5 months it'll be here and it'll be awesome.

The naysayers can whinge all they want but Nintendo will deliver new experiences with this device, experiences which just aren't possible on existing consoles. They'll also be able to provide traditional TV gaming experiences with this device.

This thing should be a win win for all.  I can't see how people wouldn't be thrilled this is being made.

Yes. Videogames are a ridiculous hobby, spending £1000 every 5 years to access all the exclusives scattered around. Seeing a game for the first time is enough for me to be satisfied, generally, with little need to fork out to play it*. I'd prefer the simplest, cheapest box, and all their resources go into the games. Nintendo are offering solutions and flexibility that people never asked for or demanded for, so all these little portable features might seem neat on the rare occasion you utilize them, but it's not a selling point. If it was just a standard console, no one would choose to not buy it based on it not being portable, would they ? Whereas people here are remarking that the extra cost, and last gen games being shown implying again not comparable power with PS4/XBone are putting them off more. I'd be more likely to not want to risk damaging/losing it if I brought it with me somewhere tbh. I almost admire them for pursuing it. It seems more about innovation and genuinely trying to create something that fits in with people's lifestyle rather than gimmickry to me like their previous two consoles leaned on as a selling point.

*hence why I'd love for a Nintendo console that prioritized the surprise element of playing new games completely blind to what you're going to get. Literally that same guy at the beginning of the video stops playing Zelda, presses a button that takes him to an online store, and sifts through dozens and dozens of white numbers on a black screen, clicking any one of them and being thrown into an incomprehensible game, that he plays for 20 seconds, confused but amazed, before going back into the online store and trying another number, and being thrown into an entirely different type of game, it more stranger than the one before. Rapid quick cuts of various new experimental Nintendo games, shot of his eyes, more rapid quick cuts, his eyes again. More manic, more zooming.

They could call it the Nintendo Surprise. (sorry) No but i would like something like that.

Looks interesting - but also pricey.
The idea of console on the go could be good (car for kids). My initial though was "who's going to take their pricey console out with them"...and then I thought about where I take my phone/tablet. [Also - toilet gaming. Woo!)

They'd be mad not chuck the screen in a later iteration, knock £100 off and launch "Switch TV Edition [it doesn't switch!]"

Problem is, even though I'm core market for this kind of device, if I could just get a Switch that played on the TV and had no portable gubbins, and basically allowed me to play Nintendo games in my living room, but reduced the price from £349 to £199, I definitely choose that.

Which kind of makes you wonder - how many people actually want to play in a park while they walk the dog enough to pay £149 more for something, and how low will sales be before nintendo offer this basic model?

That advert made me think this is going to be very expensive - sort of like, oh you can afford a fucking massive TV and a dog, well you'll probably be down for this too...

That poor dog.

Yes! As a dog owner all I could think was "your best friend/loyal companion could be running on to a road or railway line!"

Still getting one and playing it while I walk my dog next to the motorway.
