I think the fact there's a Sheika Slate in the next Zelda game and its launching for the NX has got to be a good indicator for the size of the NX tablet and the name.

Plus if they call it Nintendo Slate they can make lots of references to wiping the slate clean, blank slate, new beginnings for the company etc.

I'd like a simple box you connect to a tv, with a simple control pad you hold in your hands, and a subscription you pay to access games released on a Nintendo online store every few months, all developed in-house, no mascot attached, no title given except a number, no announcement, no demo, no screenshots, no summary, no bullet point features, no set genres, no guaranteed quality, no guaranteed length, no expectations, all the creative talent set free. A rule being no game should taken longer to develop than a baby in the womb. Nintendo output is dead to me until they divorce themselves from viewing videogames as a commercial commodity and squeezing 'fun' and 'creativity' into very narrow, palatable boxes. Ultimately it's all business driven, not art driven, but it doesn't have to be, they can slice up their resources. Miyamoto understands the essence of videogame interactivity better than maybe anyone else, or used to, and now subscribes to the joy of interactivity through the control method rather than game design. There's some really smart mobile games that do so much with minimal graphics and simple gameplay, but are limited by the touch screen controls. With the creative and technical talent Nintendo have, they could once again become pioneers in innovation in game design, the most brilliant, skilled, experienced people aren't the ones at the cutting edge of what's exciting about this medium, and that's sad, and a waste.
