The NX exists but it is just a vmu that attaches to the back of the Wii U controller.

Only dekay and me will actually buy the thing in the entire world

At the moment I only have a PS3, tons of games still to finish, and am not yearning for a Bone or PS4, but am genuinely excited about the NX reveal. Always been a big Nintendo fanboy though.

 

On home console it's a relatively recent phenomena, predicated on reusing the same basic technology base for 3 generations of hardware. Before that, you had an even longer period where no BC was even offered as they kept changing out the underlying hardware base everytime. With the NX highly probably not reusing the same technology base and the rumours also mentioning it not being BC, I wouldn't bet on it.

That's Nintendo to a tee. Had a huge problem not being able to get 3rd parties on Wii U involved which is a massive problem, and the solution is to keep them in the dark so they can't make games for launch? I just don't get the point of the secrecy. No ones going to be able to create an equivalent console in a few months.
