My biggest fear is my Animal Crossing save. They didn't used to go in the cloud? Is that still true? Does a transfer move it across?

There is a transfer app just for Animal Crossing, I believe.

Wait until your expansion pass expires? Those codes are valid for a while.

Not iFixit, but some other third party jobbies recommended on here from Amazon, which unfortunately are no longer available. 
 

Same reason as yourself - I followed the iFixit guide to replace them, perfectly doable, and touch wood they’ve been fine since. 
 

I also replaced the main board - that was trickier, but not completely impossible!

Aye, I did it a couple of times on my kids consoles before it was possible to send them to Nintendo.

 

I got some that looked externally identical to the original sticks, from an Amazon UK seller. They weren't OEM (unless the original base design had been revised by Nintendo), but they worked perfectly - and looked identical once fitted. These are the ones I bought from Amazon UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07S61YG4D

 

It's straightforward enough to install them, it's just a bit fiddly reattaching the ribbon cables and putting everything back into place.

Like Mario Party 4? And Mario Party 5. And who can forget Mario Party 6 the crowning achievement that is Mario Party 7.

 

Emulated old Mario Party games seems like an odd sell. Like wouldn't you just buy and play the latest one (given that other than the original the two Switch games are in the top 3 MP games on Metacritic along with the original).

One of the shoulders was half press, the other was full press. Sounds horrible but it actually works better in some cases.

There is a Island Transfer Tool you can download from the eShop, but word of warning: you need an active user account on both Switch's to use it.  I found that out the hard way, and while I decided to take it as a challenge to rebuild (perhaps even better!) I can still visit my lost Island in a dream... -_- and see myself walking around it in that shirt and pants combo I haven't managed to get back yet. :hmm:

edit. I can buy a 12 month family sub from cdkeys for £22.99, which saves a tenner. Could I buy two of those, stack them, and then convert the whole two years to the expansion pack on Nintendo's site?

yes that's it, there'll be a little left over that you can pay either with credit, paypal/card or coins but it should be in the ballpark of £1.50 give or take.

Thank you, that’s what I did and it came to £1.67 - so overall saves about £12. I got confused because I had a family sub which expired in two years and then the expansion reduced it to a single year. I was wondering whether you can stack the expansion pack but obviously you can’t.

i have not been brave enough to try and see what happens if i try to buy another pass

Yeah I wonder what would happen if you stacked three and then do the conversion. They’d probably charge you nothing to upgrade but that’s it, be interesting to know though.

Has anybody any experience with an USB repair service? My brothers lite won’t charge despite trying lots of different home remedies and whilst there are a fair few online adverts for replacement of usb , I want to make sure it’s a service that won’t utterly brick his console.

That absolutely would not work at all with F-Zero. :lol: Both the triggers are just as important for cornering (if not more important) as/than the analogue stick itself.

 

They could do GCN emulation, but they’d certainly have to omit a few titles.

Just noticed my online sub has lapsed, heh. Had the expansion pack, but I’m not sure I’ll even go for that again. I don’t really play online, didn’t play the N64/Mega Drive stuff beyond a little dabble, and I haven’t played much of the Mario Kart DLC. Seems silly to just pay for it by default I guess?

 

Not even sure why I need the bottom sub then - for online saves maybe?
