I didn't get to play the demo but had the exact same issue with the trailers, I can never see where the ball is with them all flying around and doing whacky moves all the time

Game's gone lads, in my day a strikers special move was something discussed in the News of the World by a page 3 stunna in a kiss and tell expose, not helicoptering their legs above their head before taking a shot, although come to think of it the two may be closer than I first thought.

Reading the Eurogamer review it sounds like there isn't enough game there to justify the price which unfortunately feels like the same story we've heard a few times now about Mario sports games.

I'm not sure that review is the complete opposite. They clearly like the core gameplay more but the solo modes get covered in around two sentences which lines up with the Eurogamer gripe about there not being enough content.

Yep, that's my take. I wasn't able to get online with my review code as the journalist times didn't match up with my work schedule but it appears to be solid. Local multiplayer is fantastic and it's definitely worth it if you have people to play with. In terms of single player, though, it's pretty much a bust. There are cup competitions to play through and you can earn ingame coins to unlock extra gear to alter character stats but it's incredibly bare bones. It's a strong 8 as a multiplayer title but a 6 for single player. One of those where just a score doesn't really tell the whole story.

If we are talking content then yes , there loads. Any one of the ea sports titles has masses of single player content . Then you have things like pga 2k1, various racing sims , tennis , cricket rugby and god knows that else . 
 

of course YMMV on the actual quality but the single player content is there.

The content is there but how much of it is particularly satisfying playing offline alone?

Super Arcade Football is brilliant in single player, is on Switch and currently costs a fiver. I’m willing to bet it’s considerably better than Mario Strikers.

Super Arcade Football is ok. I was surprised so many people on this forum were into it to be honest. It is a little shot of nostalgia for the Sensi/Kick-Off era of football games, but I don't think it is very interesting beyond that.

Dekay, prepare the Nintendo Direct rumour siren!

 

Essentially a 'content creator' appears to have leaked there will be a Nintendo Direct on the 15th (next Wednesday) and also a particular game that will be shadow dropped.

 

Spoilered just in case people don't want to know the game rumoured to be shadow dropped (but people are probably going to discuss it so you should leave now... NOW)
