Nintendo fans really are the worst.

“Releasing inferior versions of old games is just a design decision!”

”I know input lag and frame rate issues exist, and this is a fact, but in my opinion they don’t!”

Super brand loyalty. We aren’t even allowed to point out there are deep flaws and gameplay design issues in Metroid Dread. *shrug*

I honestly think the official one is the nicest, not much in the way of protection compared to the hard cases, but for the price and style it’s the best IMO.

i have the og one for my launch switch and it's fine, i like it but i was thinking of getting something a bit more stylish, so far this is literally the only one i've seen that i like but it's expensive https://www.sfbags.com/collections/cases-for-nintendo-switch/products/nintendo-switch-cityslicker-case

Yeah it’s gorgeous, I don’t think you’ll find anything nicer - I remember looking at them when the original Switch launched. Very pricey but they look to be of a very high quality.

I had that for my launch Switch, but the OLED came with this one:

and honestly I think it's a lot better. Certainly worth the extra 3 quid. It is a fair bit bulkier (around twice the thickness), but it's much sturdier, has holders for much more Switch carts and you'll even have a little space for some accessories. I'd recommend it any day over the standard official case.

Yeah I’ve got that, I got it free with my Switch and Metroid. Definitely better for protection and you can even fit another pair of joycons and extra rails in it as well.

I got the switch version of Dying light yesterday. I had the game and had completed it on PC but was curious to see just how good a job they had done on the switch version. I had looked at the various videos etc and been impressed but it was a case of wanting to see for myself. So I trading in some old games and got it.

I knew I would enjoy the game as I had done before and I am looking forward to playing the DLC's that I had not bought on PC. It is great to play it again and I must say the switch version is pretty damn remarkable. It is probably the best of the "impossible ports" that have been done. Remember this was a game that ran at 30fps on the PS4 and Xbox one and yet it does that also on the switch version with good resolution in handheld as well! It plays remarkably well. I haven't tried dock yet but I suspects that playing in handheld helps cover up some of the things they needed to cut back but, consider that fact that a haldheld switch uses all of 4 watts of power, it's pretty crazy. The new patch even improved hadheld res and locked it to 30fps.

Oh dear, all my Diablo III save data got wiped too. I was under the impression that was kept with Blizzard. I had a handful of Primal Ancient pieces for my Demon Hunter as well.

There's no way I'm doing all that again.

Sickener.

While idly browsing Twitter I saw it mentioned that the Switch now has Twitch & had to double-check that it wasn’t April 1st.

But no, the application is on the Switch eShop & it works. You can log in with your Twitch account even.  The only things it seems to lack is the ability to go straight to the channel of someone you’re following so you can see their old videos (you have to search for the channels name, though it does remember searches), & you can’t seem to control the video quality as it picks for you.

It just blows my mind that the Switch got Twitch before Netflix.  Nintendo must have been a real pain for Netflix to work with as Netflix is on everything… except Switch.

I think it's very much in Nintendo's interest to hold Netflix off the switch for another year or two. Before the OLEd, if you allowed mainstream video apps onto the switch then it would highlight in users mind how the switch is subpar compared to their phones, whereas as a specialised game device it retains a sheen of premium around it.

I think they've weakened their position because the OLED screen looks so good, but yeah, they've nothing to gain except their switches looking like £50 fire tablets.

At last I tried the N64 games on the NSO, and they all made the controller I was using (an 8bitdo SN30 Pro) vibrate constantly. As in during every second of play. Will have to see if it affects the Pro Controller the same way once that’s finished recharging…

(Mario Kart 64 is laggy with messed-up sound. Disappointing.)

Same with a fake Pro Controller. You can turn off Rumble in the N64 app settings

I'd love an OLED model but the missus would kill me as i'm meant to be reserving my money for when she goes over on maternity next year :( I'm still buying games for my switch though so may just hold back on playing a select few for when I can get a new model.

I’m getting increasingly impatient waiting for Nintendo to restock the N64 controllers. I see there’s an ‘officially licensed’ Gamecube controller available on Amazon, which ostensibly has all the right buttons, albeit the C-buttons are changed to a C-stick. Does anyone on the forum own it and can attest to its usefulness? Or does the Switch map the buttons in as equally a confusing way as it does with the joy con?
