Reduction is 8p a day for your remaining membership if you currently have family plan (4p if you have standard).

 

So that sounds about right

Not necessarily his WiFi, actually. Presuming the game, which contains 0 netcode, is just syncing between all online consoles. Any of them could be causing the judder.

 

I wish more people realised how shit WiFi is.

I wish they hadn't even done that. N64 games running at native res with a bit of blur look so much better than the pin-sharp emulated look.

 

General consensus here is that the emulation is worse than it was on the Wii U, which in turn is worse than it was on the Wii, and all three are worse than fan-made projects that have been available for ten years or more.

For a further reduction with my Gold points so roughly £50 for the year for the family. 
 

The website to remote install stuff appears fucked at the moment, will try on the Switch shortly. 
 

It’s given me the option to install

the Animal Crossing stuff, but I don’t think that’s even out yet :unsure:

Nope. You need to wait for the Family Plan to expire.

Just had a quick play on Mario Kart and Star Fox, and yeah its not good. With Mario Kart there is noticeable input lag and the audio levels are completely messed up, the sound effects are too loud and the music is hard to hear. For Star Fox, it runs faster than the original so hitting enemies is more difficult. Also if you are playing with the joycons or pro controller the button mapping is terrible, the Z button is mapped to the LZ button while R is R, down c is mapped to x and two of the c buttons are mapped to the stick, it’s completely unintuitive and makes the games difficult to play. The N64 controller is the only way to play these.

 

On the plus side, the N64 controller is perfect. Hopefully someone releases a bluetooth dongle for the original 64 so that they can be used on that.

They are, but for some (most?) games buttons make more sense and you cannot remap those within the emulator. I'm sure you can reconfigure the buttons globally on Switch but that's a bit of a cumbersome step compared to just setting them for each N64 game individually.

 

I didn't see the issue with the Memory Pak not being supported since you can save anywhere you like but I forgot things like Time Trial Ghosts in Mario Kart 64 were tied to it. Were there many other games with features you needed the Memory Pak for?

 

I've only played Operation Winback so far since it was the game from the collection I hadn't yet played. Decent fun, you can see traces of Resi 4 and Gears of War in it. Aiming is an absolute nightmare but thankfully there's lock-on so it's not so bad. My opinion on this might change once I've played beyond the first mission.

Just tried the N64 controller with Mario 64 in the Mario 3D All Stars pack. Unfortunately theres a problem with the button mapping as both the A and B buttons perform jump so there’s no attack button. The other buttons work as they should. Also no rumble. So at the moment if you want to play Mario 64 with the N64 pad you have to use the one in the N64 app, hopefully Nintendo releases a patch to fix the issue, and seeing how they added gamecube pad support for Mario Sunshine in a patch after release theres a good chance they might do so.

Sin and Punishment seems quite good.

 

Mario Kart 64 looks and plays like trash. Yoshi's Island is meh. Mario Tennis seems quite hard. I already have Starfox on 3DS and Mario 64 in the all stars pack. Winback seems like a poor mans metal gear solid.

 

I hate myself a little for buying the expansion, to be honest. None of these games really stand up today although I also find myself grateful for how far things have moved on.

Sin & Punishment runs beautifully and looks fantastic, probably the best game I’ve played so far in terms of performance. 
 

Just tried Zelda as well and that one is definitely running at a faster framerate than the original, thats not a bad thing but it’ll take some getting used to. Theres also some strange shimmering when you turn really fast. Its a shame as the game looks and controls fantastically.
