It’s free on PC since the dawn of time.

True - but I wouldn't say you can quite compare considering there isn't a unified service across all games/social stuff unless you and anyone you want to interact with are exclusively buying games from only one vendor e.g Steam or the like.

By the same merits Sony and Microsoft are taking the piss with their service then.

Golly!

It gives me motion sickness and a headache almost immediately at this point. I went back to it recently but, like PSVR for me, the nauseating sensation is almost like muscle memory now.

I can understand and forgive it on some cheapo indie eShop crud but for a fifty quid Nintendo game, I think it's awful.

No doubt there will be plenty of people who can tolerate it perfectly fine or 'don't notice' the lurching framerate but it's simply a fact that the performance is one of constant fluctuations.

Why should I? Troll away, I don’t care.

I care because every time I open this thread hoping to read something interesting about my favourite console, it is instead the same dull argument that people have been having for, ooh, 20 years about whether Nintendo know what they are doing or not.

Report it if it’s bothering you.

You can’t report people for having opinions, that’s ridiculous, if someone doesn’t like the current thread of discussion they should be an adult and ignore it. The mods have enough work as it is.  It is a Switch thread so people are allowed to discuss whatever they like about the console, whether that’s positive or negative. Personally these discussions are much more enjoyable than the usual technical issues and Q&A that these console threads are usually filled with post launch.

There is a separate thread somewhere to discuss Nintendo which might be better for resurrecting for this kind of chat. I love the Switch, arguably my favourite console ever, it doesn’t mean that I believe Nintendo are free from critique. There’s a bizarre small minority on here who greet every critique of  Nintendo as a personal insult. There can be a separate thread for people to discuss this topic but a cabal will pile into it as if someone has taken a piss on their cornflakes.

100% this.

Im not saying all this to be mean. I’m saying it because I want Nintendo to succeed and do great long term and get out of their boom and bust cycle.

Have Nintendo even ever had two wins in a row? They always get big headed and fuck up their follow up console!

I dont think anyone is taking anything as a personal insult. As you say people can discuss whatever they want about the console. Probotector holds a personal view which is at odds to several people posting in here at the moment. That's all fine at the end of the day.

No one is being disrespectful of each other beyond some topical debate.  At times threads do go slightly off topic but discussing online services or Nintendo track record aren't that OT are they in a Switch thread?

Also, I think it was fairly obvious that Stanley wasn't seriously suggesting someone needed reporting.

DS and Wii

Same generation.

Followed by 3DS and WiiU. Maybe their worse generation.

Also, I’m confused by people are so upset at me asking for Nintendo to try harder.

Even more ironic considering the more hardcore in here would have had a WiiU and stuck with it so have already played 90% of the content Nintendo are pumping out right now.

Sony did the whole remake thing but the remakes were supplemented with meaty AAA releases.

Nintendo are giving us ports of their AAA games supplemented with niche interest games like Pikmin, a series where every entry has flopped hard.

No one is upset about anything you are saying, it’s just everything you say is completely nonsensical and incoherent - for example you just want them to do well, they are doing well, but you want them to try harder - you want them to be more like they were during the GameCube and N64 era, consoles that were less successful.

And your sole suggestion for them to turn around their fortunes; release an F-Zero port

You don’t want them to keep on doing the same thing, but you don’t want niche titles either, or new ideas, or whatever it is you don’t want.

Do you see? You just sound like you don’t know what you want, or how to explain it.

I want a new Fzero or wave race yes.

But I also want new entries to series and new series.

My main point was, I’m looking forward to Switch Pro because it will mean new games rather than WiiU ports.

I also accused them of being lazy because they’re just releasing ports and still struggling to fill a release schedule

I think the Wii and DS did so well as they appealed to ‘non-hardcore gamers’(that old chestnut ).  For example my mum had both, who’d never had consoles before or after. Like many she wanted to try Wii sports and Wii Fit, Brain Training etc. So many people had a Wii under their TV’s that would never call themselves a gamer or maybe even class it as a hobby/pastime  Suddenly the Switch is having a similar time, maybe helped by ring fit adventure? The majority of people that have a Switch will have never played 3D World, MK 8 etc so it makes sense to release them again and makes loads of money.

We have had a few new games like BOTW and Odyssey. These were both GOTY, possibly GOAT material.

Hopefully we’ll start to see more new stuff after BOTW2.

There are “new entries to series and new series” - I think when/if a new Switch (Pro) comes along you’re going to be a very disappointed little munchkin.

I doubt they will be able to get away with more ports but I guess if they are at the level of wind waker or Link’s awakening then I’m fine with that.

To bring some balance, I’ve bought pretty much every big game Nintendo have released on the Switch and I love it.

They definitely were firing on all cyclinders during the WiiU era which is sadder when see how that console was recieved compared to the Wii which IMO was their darkest era rather than the N64 and GC.

Well there aren’t really any more Wii U ports to be had, but I thought you said they’d been treading water for the last 15 years, now they were firing on all cylinders

You can tread water and fire on all cyclinders.

You just won’t get far.

Which is what happened with the WiiU.

Nintendo are slowly realising they can’t alienate their core audience like they did with the Wii.

No more waggle and stupid button layouts.

Switch is pure distilled Nintendo. It’s like the make up console.

I have great hopes with Switch Pro.

Hopefully they keep Miyamoto away from it.

Just now, Stanley said:

I mean you literally cannot do that, you’re either treading water which means you’re stationary, just staying afloat, or you’re firing on all cylinders moving at top speed, so it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Can you please stop replying to him.
