Everything, to be honest.

I've still not worked out how to talk with mates and also hear game audio. It's a bit embarrassing.

Yeah, much as I like the ability to play Super Metroid and Pop’n Twinbee on a cool console/handheld hybrid (the most incredible thing my 12-year-old self could’ve ever imagined),

the execution is lacking. I mean, minor thing perhaps, but the optional scanlines are just plain awful. Not a patch on the M2 or Hamster releases. Have to admit that I haven’t dared attempt the online play feature yet due to doubts over how well it might work...

Just looking at the calendar here... it would bit weird for them to do a Direct during the weekend, but they’re gonna have to if they want to get the usual January one in on time.

29th Feb is when we’ll get the Jan Direct I’ve heard.

I wish there was some consistency with their LE  console bundles.

Why does the Mario red and blue not come with 3D World but the MonHun one comes with Rise?!

I don’t think the Mario one is available for pre-order yet is it?

In a way though, the switch needs to be compared to the two prior pillars, Nintendo have always had a Home and Portable console making them money, now they just have one.

GBA + Gamecube (82m + 22m)

DS + Wii (155m +  102m  a golden age)

3DS + Wii U (76m + 14m)

Switch (78m to date)

I suspect they'll beat the GBA and Gamecube before they move on to pastures new. They are half a gen out of sync now with MS/PS5 so that'll really help them.

Easily. It's already 12 million ahead when comparing time from their respective launches.

In Japan they’ve already doubled PS4 sales with Switch.

Not disagreeing, but presumably some people are still buying PS4s as a budget option.

FWIW, I still am convinced that the rumoured Switch Pro is just going to be another running-change, along the lines of the improved battery life revision. They weren’t release a proper new generation of hardware while the Switch is still selling well, but anything less than that will end up being unsupported for specific games like the New 3DS models were.

Those leaked Nintendo docs showed how much they consider and experiment with and ultimately abandon. It might be that that period last year where they were approaching developers about 4K support was just them trying to assess how much of a burden it would be and what they’d have to include. It might not be imminent. They might even have decided against it.

I think they’ll have to release one sooner rather than later, the lack of power is going to harm multiformat games as there’s only so much panic button can do as other hardware advances further.

They’ll be very wary about messing it up Wii U style, though, so I’d imagine it will be as rumoured: 4K, oled screen, all games have to work but you’ll get higher resolution and framerate on Pro models.

Can’t imagine that. No point in Nintendo killing the Switch off now, it’s only a few years old and hugely successful. The technology isn’t there to make a handheld at a competitive price that can close the gap on brand new next gen consoles. It’s still going to be a few years away.

Neither do I see Nintendo embracing 4K. It’s still very niche for those with expensive set ups, not the family market that Nintendo aim for, they have no desire to chase the Sony/MS crowd. If you want 4K gaming there’s two new consoles that cater for you. An upgraded 4K switch will just alienate developers and their own market. It’s a daft idea.

4k is pretty much pointless for a handheld which is half the point of a switch. I think the most you’d expect from a Switch 2 in a few years is games being upscaled to 4K when docked.
