I keep bouncing off of BotW, I want to love it but I just can't get stuck in and every session feels fairly aimless. These days I bearly get any gaming time and dipping in and out of a game that size is not easy.

In other news I bought Mario Odyssey in the sale today.

I have the same two games for my Switch Lite that I bought yesterday.  Of the two, Mario is the one I am enjoying a lot more so far.  I have the same issues with BOTW as you, I appreciate I have only dipped my toe in but I also get the sense of aimlessness with it.  Meanwhile, I bought Skyrim in the sale, along with Inside and Limbo, all games I have played in the past but look forward to revisiting again.  I am feeling that Resident Evil for £15 on the store is likely to be another purchase.

Thanks for the replies :)

I am also looking at Skyrim and the Bioshock collection, I have finished them all but would enjoy a revisit.  Am hoping the Resident Evil series comes out at some point also.

I have a 6 year old daughter, are there any games on the Switch that might be suitable for her also?

My daughter is 6 and was planning on asking Santa to bring her Yoshi. However she started playing Kirby Star Allies and absolutely loved it. She has the full game now. Some of it is deceptively hard which she needed me to help a bit. The last boss in story mode is a fair bit trickier than the rest of the game. It's not Hollow Knight levels but the spike was noticeable to me.

Nonetheless she is still playing it.

Realise I'm late to this, but - me and my little bro want to play online together. I see that's via a phone app which is fine but I'm confused how it works.

How do we voice chat and listen to the game sound at the same time?

I really am ready for a Switch Pro/Plus/whatever. Bluetooth audio (obvs), more horsepower (the original Switch is 4 years old now, right?), maybe even an OLED screen. I’d love to get some half-decent, portable PS4/Xbone ports (that don’t look like total arsebiscuits) now the new generation is here, as I struggle to sit down and commit to ‘big screen’ games these days.

I can see why they haven’t though - why complicate the market if it’s selling so well already? And would the new games still be playable on the old hardware, just with lower graphics settings? They’d probably have to, or they’d risk another Wii/Wii U situation, but then you’d have a bunch of games that look and play like total arsebiscuits on older hardware (or on the Lite, which I assume they’d keep around).

Gah!

Easier just to stick both of your phones on loudspeaker.

Switch newbie question: how big a SD card do I need to get? Will 128GB suffice?

I wouldn't imagine we'll be buying every available title or anything like that but I've no idea how big game files are! I'm used to XB1 storage sizes.

It’s so easy to delete/archive games and re-download them, and this doesn’t remove the save game from your machine, so even a 128GB would be fine for most people. 256GB is probably the sweet spot for size/price, but you only need 512GB if you’re a digital hoarder or have shitty internet.

Top tip: buy any games you think you’ll play once on cartridge, as they tend to hold their value really well to sell on.

I’ve had 128gb since 2017 launch and it’s been fine for me, I buy as much as I can physically though on cartridge.

Yeah I figured this was best because my stepdaughter has a Switch Lite and my 2 now have a normal Switch so we're going to favour physical copies so we can use them on both machines.
