Well I'm just going by what Nintendo themselves have stated which is that it's "going to be a brand new concept". That mock-up is literally just a Wii U...

 

But to be honest I don't really mind either way. It's just that don't want them repeating past mistakes and end up having to prematurely ditch the platform. All I want are quality games from Nintendo and if that has to be on another monstrosity, so be it.

 

I own a 3DS but rarely play that outside of the house as I already do enough gaming at home, so when I do go somewhere the last thing I want to do is play more videogames. So the whole 'mobile hybrid' pitch doesn't really appeal to me personally but I do like the idea of both first party and, dare I say, third party studios being able to develop their games for one platform without having to waste resources.

Apart from the screen being too big and (as scottcr said) the bad ergonomic design, I don't think the NX will be that dissimilar.

Remember when you said people would struggle to go back to plain old 2D gaming when the 3DS came out and that the pent up demand for husbands who wanted to play Nintendo games on the gamepad, while the wife watched Strictly, meant the WiiU would take the world by storm. Good times.

I want Nintendo to unify their machines so I can enjoy 3DS games on the big screen.

 

Hopefully the NX will have a 3DS cartridge slot?

I think it'll drop it. Clean break, no worrying about including a stylus. Keep selling the New 3DS at a lower price.

That would be great. Ace Attorney 6 is really tempting me to get a 3DS now. But I want to save my money, and goodwill of the wife, to buy an NX.

A game where you play as a dad or father figure to create empathy for real world gamer dads to feel, term started with Bioshock 2 and Infinite - Last of Us, Witcher 3, Walking Dead, etc. Not great article on the phenomenon but I can't find the good one.

 

Also games that have an audience primarily made up of olds, that played them during their youth - i.e literally all MMOs at this point, Mascot platformers (including Nintendo).

Don't think that'll change much. At best it'll get some steady PSN indie support, but I don't think anyone believes VR is the future of the industry any more, it flopped massively out of the gate.

I don't think VR is dead just yet. It's just too expensive, too uncomfortable, has rubbish controls and doesn't have a killer app so no-one outside of a few early adopters are interested.
