I was expecting to be taken back to the days of  theme hospital on PC or even theme park on the jaguar.

It's not really like those games, it's a relatively hardcore production line management/puzzle type game. Similar to automachef and the like.

Play Two Point Hospital instead.

The Link’s Awakening remake or the Yoshi’s Woolly World sequel – which one is best of the two, going by general forum consensus? I enjoyed Link’s Awakening on the GB and GBC, and Woolly World on the Wii U (the latter in two player mode).

Yoshi for me, but both are worth getting. It’s the best Yoshi game since Island on the SNES.

Links Awakening was shorter than I’d remembered, but still a great adventure.

I hope this new Switch, if it's as reported, is just a bump in power (like, Pro/X) rather than a Switch 2. Machine clearly has enough oomph to make charming Nintendo games. I wouldn't even worry about 4k textures (sigh), everything looks fantastic blown up to 55" as it is.

I imagine a Pro version would mostly just be used to render games at a more consistent resolution and frame rate. Some Switch games utilise dynamic resolution extremely aggressively to maintain framerate.

The ability to add some anti-aliasing wouldn't go amiss either. The jaggies/shimmering you get in some Nintendo games are the one blot on their visual presentation.

Links Awaking has massive frame drops at certain point, same with Breath of the Wild. Docked or undocked.

Links Awakening is a odd one and off putting for some, although I wouldn’t really describe it as a massive open world game - and Breath of The Wild is fine. Don’t get me wrong I’d gladly enjoy any refinements and improvements new hardware would bring but suggesting it badly needs this upgrade is an exaggeration in the examples you’ve given.

Oh ffs. Is this the rumoured direct then? Is it even worth watching?

Not really. If they really are selling that Final Fantasy Gameboy collection as shown in the trailer, in black and white ffs, then that’s got to be the laziest fucking port I’ve ever seen - that stuff should be reserved for Nintendo Online games.

I was comparing the same technical problem for both. The lost woods has issues with inconsistent framerates. Point of example is where the magical sword is located.

I’m aware of that but overall Breath of The Wild runs pretty consistently- it certainly doesn’t need new hardware “badly” as you suggest, it’s fine. Hopefully they’ll improve the engine further for when Breath of The Wild 2 comes out.

Breath of the wild hardly looks anything special. It's mostly the same textures and dull colour palette for miles.

Maybe it’s because I was actually enjoying the game rather than crywanking over 4K resolutions and 120Hz frame rates, but I rather enjoyed breath of the wild.

It's one of the best games I've played in a long time. The sheer amount of things to do and all the little touches makes it very memorable. Excluding the graphics of course.
