Anyone interested in different coloured joycon cases? I have 2 x grey and 3 of the Neon, but the other way round; the ones you can buy off the shelf, so red = left (x1), blue = right (x2).

The amount of Sunshine love in here is deeply disturbing.

The game is a skid mark on baby bowsers nappy!

Yeah, Sunshine is by far the worst 3D Mario game.

It's glitchy, the camera is terrible, and it lacks the polish first party Nintendo games usually have.

Lies!

I have it up there with the best, some parts are the best Mario platforming ever!

I still hope any modern port has VR Missions-style bonus content featuring another 99 void levels. But still just the one tune.

Endless void levels would probably be my ideal 3d Mario game. Great idea

Honestly I’m more looking forward to a remake/remaster of Super Mario Sunshine than the other Mario games, because there’s the most scope for Nintendo to address the underlying issues and flaws in the original game... Well, I mean, maybe the water jet gimmick wasn’t the best in the world, and can’t be removed without turning it into a completely different game entirely, but all off the small, niggling, irritating problems inside SMS can be sorted. The frustration with the blue coins, the buggy clipping, that pachinko game, for starters...

That hotel level was shite. Floor after floor of cramped low ceilings in a 3D Mario platformer ffs  With that camera trying to make sense of it, too

It also had the void levels which, outside of Mario Galaxy, is maybe the best Mario has ever been in 3D.

An odd game, certainly.

Just happy Nintendo are bringing some of the older Marios to the Switch TBH Sunshine, Galaxy, 64 whatever. It's great news!

Looks like Sunshine will also be a bit of a dividing game but well I loved it and that's my experience and opinion :) Which is all that counts right? How much fun YOU have with a game. Looks like there will be something for everyone TBH just hope the pack rumours are true because it will be an awesome bundle to get as one purchase....

Decided to try and complete a few of the Marios I have... Never completed the original SMB on the NES or Super Mario World. So with a bit of time on my hands currently I'm going to try and remedy that.... Probably play them on the mini versions of the consoles because well the controllers.....

First up the original SMB on the NES! Anyone else fancy a playthough??! :) Be interesting to see if I can finally get to the end.....

Super Mario Sunshine marks the occasion of my first introduction to the old EDGE forum / ntsc-uk and by extension rllmuk, back around 2002.

I had just finished the game on release and absolutely adored the thing, got 120 Stars in under a week and done the usual thing I would do back then of trying to get 120 on each save slot.

I then discovered the mentioned forums, over joyed by this new internet connectivity to share experiences with other like minded people, only to find - in total shock - that almost everyone seemed to completely hate the game. I still totally don't get it.

Have any of the Animal Crossing edition Switches reached these shores at all in the current crisis? Daughter (and me) was desperate for one for her 15th birthday next week, looking like a big fat no atm.

Yeah, they sold out pretty much straight away.

By far the worst in possibly what ranks as the greatest videogame series of all time, so in the general scheme of things still better than most everything else.

I still remember the Edge review - pretty sure they summarised it similarly.

I don’t remember it as being bad.

I enjoyed it. It didn't rock my world and in hindsight it seemed to have learned a lot from things like Spyro but it was a friendly little summer holiday of a game which (like some many good GC games) really made you conscious of how amazing the GC controller was.

Wasn’t there a rumour that Super Mario Sunshine was a third-party game that Nintendo bought up wholesale while it was under development, and rejigged it as a Mario title?

Never heard that before..

Well on world 2 level 3 of SMB.

Surprising how brutal old game designs were however this is still just magical. The lovely tunes, noises, physics. The power up mechanism still a stoke of genius. Just a lovely game. So well designed.

Never really had or played on the NES back in the day owning mainly home computers at the time - in particular the C64 at the time of the NES era although if I recall it got a really late release here around '86/87 so the Amiga was making waves at the time so really overlooked the NES.

Anyway even now it's a wonderful game.

Nice to have the save points this time :D

The Space Invaders collection is pretty cool, especially Arkanoid Vs Space Invaders, which has to be downloaded - the other 7 games are on the cart.

Guessing this is a physical only game? Or a Japanese only release?

I think the Sunshine defense force can be explained by them all basing their opinion of it on hazy memories from 2002.

Kindly go play that void level where the villagers are throwing you across gaps and then return to this thread and issue a grovelling apology. Thank you.

Yep four years is a long while :) No longer have my 'Cube or the game sold them both last year with the rest of my retro gear...

Great to have all this on the Switch ...

I was too young to properly appreciate Mario 64, so Sunshine on the GameCube when I was 12-13 years old was a formative gaming moment for me. Having said that, I haven't played it since then and don't know how well it'll good up against the masterful Odyssey.

The faster we forget the GameCube era the better.

Nothing but miss after miss and probably has the worst iteration of every big Nintendo Franchise not to mention the death of Rare.

In hindsight the only game that seemed complete was Liugis mansion and that was Pretty short.

Metroid Prime

Animal Crossing

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

Were all highlights. Both MP and PM:TTYD are still the best versions of their franchises. Animal Crossing has only been beaten this year.
