Winder Waker WiiU is a beautiful and wonderful thing that will never ever age

The lighting was all wrong for me. Too much bloom, shadows way overdone. Took away the sense of playing a living bit of cel animation.

So, it's:

A trilogy pack of Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, and Mario Galaxy, representing the N64, GC, and Wii.

A Switch port of Super Mario 3D world to represent the WiiU.

Much of the rest of the back catalogue coming to Switch (more NES and SNES classics?).

And a brand new Super Paper Mario game.

Well well!  My flabber is well and truly ghasted... if that's a regular priced game, that's amazing value.

METROID PRIME TRILOGY NEXT PLEASE NINTENDO

2021 is the 35th anniversary of the release of Metroid in Japan, isn't it?

I bought Galaxy 2 second hand late in the Wii's life but never got around to playing it. It would be good to have a chance to redeem myself, there.

How will Galaxy's star-bit retrieval work without a wiimote?

We'll probably get a gyro-pointer, which will be nowhere near as good as the Wiimote, but should still be usable.

I loved Mario 64 at the time but I really wonder what I'd make of it now given how much I enjoyed the subsequent 3D ones, particularly Odyssey which for me at least improved upon it to such a degree I don't know if I would get anything other than five minutes worth of nostalgia out of it.

I think I'm most excited about the prospect of playing 3D World and/or Land again on Switch. The former was so good I actually wept a wee bit when I first played it that Christmas and 3D Land seems to be unfairly overlooked just because it's a bit ugly and stuck on a system that didn't really suit it.

Nintendo Online isn’t bad when you consider the amount of games you get straight away.

There’s no way they’ll sell each of these remasters at full price separately all at the same time, or even spaced out throughout the year - that makes no sense. There will be some kind of package or bundle.

Unless the releases just start in 2020, spaced out across the years as standalone releases. Or full-price double packs, so 64/Sunshine, and the two Galaxies. Land and World, perhaps?

I wonder who'd be working on these. I predict Grezzo, given their remake popularity with Nintendo* and Link's Awakening finishing up in August.

*OoT 3DS, Majora's Mask 3DS, Luigi's Mansion 3DS and Link's Awakening (Switch).

Well think Sunshine is my favourite Mario game. Glitches aside I liked the FLUDD addition and it was just bright and vibrant when it was released during a miserable October in the UK! :) Had a lot of fun playing it and looking forward to playing through again on the Switch.

It's glitchy, the camera is terrible, and it lacks the polish first party Nintendo games usually have.

All of which are things that could easily be addressed in a port.

I liked it a lot. People bang on about Fludd making it seem less like a Mario game, but the void levels are the purest 3D Mario ever. I won’t defend the blue coins, though, they were bullshit.

I still hope any modern port has VR Missions-style bonus content featuring another 99 void levels. But still just the one tune.

The void levels were brilliant, but the rest of Sunshine was lacking, at best.

Over the years I've attempted to play Sunshine four times, but I've never finished it. I find it boring. The docks level in particular is a tedious slog.
