Nintendo Switch

I've literally just been searching 'XCOM style games on Switch'. Isn't 2 the massively stressful time-limited one?

The time limit is not that bad. First of all, it's not all the missions. And the missions that do have a time-limit are usually quite lineair. Using it as a means to raise the tension to get you from point A to B.

But I would like to see XCOM 1 come to Switch too, as a like the setting and story much better.

Hard West is on the eshop. Sometimes gets mega discounted (got mine for £1.79). Obviously is more of a budget title but I've really enjoyed my time with it.

This is the week of the January Direct I can feel it... for reals this time!!

(Seriously though does any Nintendo developed game have a firm release date after Animal Crossing? There must be a direct soon, right? RIGHT?!)

What are the announced Nintendo games? Metroid Prime 4, BOTW2 and Xenoblade DE? They must have more than that surely this year.

We're supposedly waiting on ports of Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3 and Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Personally I'm waiting on a port of Skies of Arcadia.

Supposed insiders on ResetEra. I'm skeptical myself.

With the recently announced new additions to the NES and SNES collections we’re not there yet, but gimme N64 already!

Finally got my Switch back from Nintendo repairs. Well, to be more accurate, I got a Switch back from Nintendo repairs. The serial number is totally different, and it has none of my accounts or save data. I was hoping that if they did this I'd at least get a new model, but it's the same V1 fat model.

Can't wait to tell my 7 year old that her Pokemon save is gone! There I was thinking we'd got the hamster to teach them about mortality.

On the plus side, this could be an excuse to replay Xenoblade Chronicles 2...

They’re probably the same “insiders” who said there was a January direct.

You should flag that up with them and complain - the minimum they should do if sending a new system is to transfer the data over. Let them know.

They tell you they can’t guarantee any data transfer will happen, though.

Metroid Prime trilogy is pretty much a definite at this point in time. I seem to remember multiple reliable sources reporting they'd seen it. It's basically been done for over a year. Nintendo are just sitting on it, trying to figure out the best time to release it, vis-à-vis Metroid 4.

It'll be an EU-only release

No way.

Every direct I get disappointed they don’t shadow drop it there and then. So this time I’m not getting my hopes up.

I imagine the amount of time Metroid Prime 4 is taking is what's holding back the Trilogy, assuming it's a real thing of course. No point releasing the Trilogy if the follow up is still at least two years away.

The question I was replying to was asking if these ports existed, wasn’t it?  Not if it will be released soon. I’m just pointing out that mpt exists and is ready to go. This is likely related to when Nintendo feel the title will do well enough, especially regarding 4’s lengthy dev time.

Yeah I just refuse to believe this until I see it, as it’s tinted the last few directs with disappointment.

Is that like Starfox but with illegible handwriting instead of distorto-gobbledygook speech?

Yeah, they'd signposted it enough throughout the process - best endeavours, no guarantees, etc. I could have paid for cloud subscription and backed up some saves, but the only one I was really worried about was Pokemon Let's Go, and that doesn't support Cloud Saves for Reasons. I also wasn't very inclined to give Nintendo more money when a lightly used console had packed up after 23 months.

Pretty sure they didn't use best endeavours in this case, but I don't really have a leg to stand on.

I've come to terms with the fact that Skies of Arcadia is getting no further than the GameCube. It and 18 Wheel American Trucker are never coming out to a more modern system.

Add Power Stone to the list.

Taking my Switch on holiday - can I use any USB-C charger or do I have to use the one that came with the console?
