Does anyone know the best way to get the 8bitdo wireless adapter and not have a counterfeit? I tried Amazon but it’s listed in about eight places, half of them preceded by another manufacturer’s name (eg “randomco 8bitdo wireless adapter”) even when it’s sold by Amazon directly.

Hi.

I'm doing some travelling this weekend and fancy a new game. Quite fancy the new pokemon but can't get it in time.

Recently i've enjoyed dead cells and enter the gungeon as pick up and play games. Anything similar or along these lines? Tempted my mark of the ninja but did complete it way back.

Astral chain also in the running.

Have you finished Hollow Knight?

Put a few hours into it but it didn't hook me. I could  give it another shot. Great visuals if i recall.

I have Stardew Valley downloaded which i'm hoping will scratch my animal crossing itch but again, I wasn't hooked after a few hours of falling asleep in a field.

I have bought 2 new controllers recently, the SN30 Pro Plus and the N30 Pro. The main reason is that the joycons work inconsistently wirelessly, meaning when I play Tetris, unless I’m very close to the machine, I’ll press left and the block will continue sliding that way. Small but irritating. Also the joycons are so small. Because of this I mainly play handheld.

The SN30 PP is like having a pro controller but in a more PS style. It is great for Mario, Zelda etc, especially if you want bigger buttons than the joycons have. For Tetris 99 tho, it’s no good, the buttons are too big for me and the d pad is simply OK. Plus point: you can pair it to your iPad for Apple Arcade. Warning, I wanted the gameboy themed one but it wasn’t in stock, so got the US SNES style one. 2 of the buttons are concave, which means you have 2 fucking Parma violets on the thing. This annoys me.

The N30 pro is great, really small and the buttons are small. It’s super portable. Love it. Again, the only downside is the NES style dpad which is OK.

Yes I will get the Switch Lite Pro thing with the joycon type dpad.

Happy with the quality of the two controllers above though. Gone are the days of 3rd party controllers being shit.

You need to stick with it. I didn’t really like it at first but am now very much enjoying it

Have you seen Juicy Realm? It's similar to Enter the Gungeon except the difficulty is kind of inverted from that - I finished Juicy Realm the first time I played it (and I'm not that great at EtG) but that's just normal mode; finishing it then unlocks hard mode and there are apparently other kinds of modifiers on top of that that can make it more difficult / interesting. It's more relaxing than EtG though maybe not as satisfying.

It's £10.79 at the minute.

EDIT: The controls confused me at first but I remapped them to be the same as EtG and that was much better.

To be honest I've gone through Ebay to find the cheapest possible for the retro receivers and I've never had a problem from the places I've bought them from. They all worked fine, they had no problem with firmware updates either and all of them were in their original packaging. If you're willing to risk that give it a try.

I really enjoyed Rogue Legacy. Similar to Dead Cells.

Have you played Limbo and Inside? I played those travelling recently and thought they were amazing.

Art of Balance is a nice relaxing game to play on a flight too. Same with Baba is You, or Bad North. And if you haven't played Into the Breach - then just get that.

Astral Chain is great, but for a Rogue-ish game similar to Dead Cells & Gungeon, Nuclear Throne is bloody brilliant.  I personally preferred it to Gungeon.  Or get Binding Of Isaac, if you've not already!

@skittles if you’ve got Hollow Knight then I’d implore you give it another go / a bit more time. I played it for a while and it didn’t click with me but there was something nagging at me that made me give it another go and oh my days, it really is very, very good :).

I saw that someone mentioned Rogue Legacy earlier and that too is superb.
