overwatch switch for £24, including 3 months online.

Shopto are shit. Order not showing on the website, no one answers the phone and you have to raise a ticket on their website which is ridiculously convoluted.

Ignoring the massive ring chat for a moment - I've been considering getting Iconoclasts on Switch - is it a recommended buy?

I really liked it, but then I'm a sucker for any metroidvania type game. Others with perhaps more discernment than me found it to be average.

I loved it, although it should be noted that it's a Metroidvania game styled after Metroid Fusion rather than Super Metroid. The game also has a very opinionated design and story, which might not appeal to everyone.

or it's just assuming the pressure based on how much it jiggles

No, Nintendo had a patent way back in 2014(!) that showed how this was working (or at least an earlier version of it) - it was properly measuring the pressure. I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Here it is: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/04/this_nintendo_patent_for_a_u-shaped_fitness_controller_is_actually_cool

And I thought Nintendo were done making shit gimmicky controls :(

They are still hoping that the long gone wii market is still around. This won’t be a popular opinion but I hope this bombs and stops them considering wasting their talent on novelties. The Switch has been great so far because (Labo aside)  Nintendo have been concentrating on the games and not the gimmicks.

Gimmicks have come around every Nintendo generation, it's part of what makes them great and indeed successful in the past with the Wii and the DS. The Switch is full of gimmicks, from HD rumble to it being dockable - it's just the latter is a successful one.

Nintendo have always done gimmicks. Remember Odama with the microphone and Donkey Konga on the Gamecube?

This is being made by the same people who did Labo, so it's not like they've pulled resources away from other teams.

Finally a game which will appeal to any remaining Wii Fit fans AND hardcore RPG fans.

This won’t appeal to either.

Nintendo’s market research team are off their heads.

This peripheral would most suit a Nintendoland style game, where players take turns to compete locally.

But not this.

The Switch still primarily about software. It’s gimmick being its console/handheld hybrid which hasn’t humstrung its software with its control input unlike the Wii/DS. I’d also argue that market just doesn’t exist anymore, Labo’s sales were poor, I’d have thought they’d learn their lesson there.

I thought he was bad in the still but he's genuinely un-nerving in his intensity in the video. The bit where his face just peeks in the edge of the frame while the woman is talking is like something out of a horror movie. I don't know whether he reminds me more of Norman Bateman or Dennis Reynolds.

Historically- much to the wife's dismay- I have been known to buy any old shit Nintendo pump out, even down to the fucking Virtual Boy till it gave me two migraines and I shifted it (at a profit!)

I might draw the line at this weird wank hula hoop though, I must be honest.

Let's hope the little man doesn't see the video.
