But what if I’m having fun playing and using rewind?

Are you having fun in a crowded room full of people who love starfox,or a forum thread, and all retelling stories of how they died at so and so part because that was part of their experience? That was part of the joy of the game- learning to beat it. I can understand cheating if the game truly cheats you, but you're having an odd experience of what gaming fundamentally is, if you use it too liberally I think. That said if you use it to learn and get through sections and replay without it that could be worthwhile.

If someone has loads and loads of free time to devote to it then great. But for people with families and jobs rewind features are a godsend even if it might seem like an odd experience to you.

I've barely touched the SNES games since they were added but if/when I find time I'm going to be using the rewind just as liberally as @scottcr.

Its absolutely a different experience. Would you put it in modern games? Do you still have a family and a job while you play modern games? How do you cope?!

Demon’s Crest is a game I have never played before – It looked like a Castlevania style platform romp at first, but after the introductory level, turns out it was an early attempt at a Metroidvania. Have to dig out my Super Plays from storage to check the review out. Feels like I could mess up and miss out on some vital items....

I love my Switch but it’s always been a hassle to get it docked.

Hold the home button. Nothing happens. Take out console and reinsert. Try again. This time the console switches on but won’t connect to the TV. Unplug everything. Take out and reinsert all cables. Try again and now it works.

I have to go through this about one time out of five. I don’t know if it’s just dust or shit cables. Are all of them a bit unreliable or is it just mine?

You don't play many driving games do you?

No I play animal crossing ;3  . Do you have a set amount of rewinds ? I assume its woven into the game mechanics somehow?

~It could even work in Dark souls or something similar. Just if it was limited or purposefully part of the game sure.

Pretty sure this has been discussed in this topic before but would this be the best option for connecting sony wh-1000xm3 to my switch?

Yes - I use it with my xm2s and my Air Pods and it works a treat. No discernible lag and connects pretty much straightaway.

Surely you know the answer to this by now? But just in case... it’s just you.

I have this one that also works brilliantly with my air pods and is somewhat less expensive

The exact same one is also often available

on eBay for just over £20, I too can vouch for it working perfectly well so long as your headphones support the low latency codecs. The first pair I used didn’t and the lag really spoiled the gaming experience.

Are you running it through any kind of switcher?

Mine has never not worked and I assumed I work dance issues as using it via CEC etc and that’s flakey as fuck,

I would love it in modern games, yeah. I had a Super Famicom in 1991 and I had basically all the time in the world then.

It's part of the easy mode/ cheat codes etc discussion I guess. If you want to and have the tools to do so that's great and I hope that's as satisfying or helps with time and family. But it also plays into what you're playing for and whether you're playing to see the end or to enjoy the journey as intended. Clearly these games have a ton of effort put into them to balance them.  seems a shame for it to be such an easy thing to do on a whim and so liberally.

The big part for me is the individual experience which includes messing up. Its part of what makes quick plays, speed runs, streaming, podcast discussion, forum discussion interesting. especially now with games relying on choices a lot more. Its no skin off my nose if you or Sean use rewind :) , I just hope it doesnt become the norm cos no doubt I will use it too because its there if you see what I mean.

Loving the nostalgia trip with the SNES games, hopefully they will add Actraiser, which I loved.  Shame the chances of UniRally and the Super Star Wars games getting added officially are slim to none as I wasted a ton of time on them.

Well, Super Star Wars was Lucasfilm, who are Disney these days, and the Unirally dispute was due to Pixar, who are now *also* Disney.

To my mild amazement, the MD Mini has Castle of Illusion on it, which is about as Disney as it gets. So maybe there is some hope for seeing these licenced games again.

Or maybe Sega are going to get dragged into an alley by a pack of feral entertainment lawyers and beaten to death with their briefcases.

In racing it varies, the Forza games have allowed infinite rewinding for a long, long time now.  Codemasters, who pretty much pioneered the idea tend to limit it.
