Just download the JP games too, then you can have both.

How do you do this?

Does anyone one know how regions work for snes online multiplayer? I have a Japanese account but I want to play against friends in Europe. Is it possible?

This is now the absolute definitive way to play these games... telly, on the go, rewind, save points... Just played a bit of LttP, it looks lovely on the switch screen.

I'm saying "not quite" - not until the SNES controllers are released and I can play everything in Super Authentic Mode.

Nintendo do what 8bitdon't.

Create a JP account, go into the eShop with your JP account, and download the SNES Online app. You can then play it with your UK account.

Ah, if you have a JP account you already have the JP games.

Yeah, I want to get the Uk snes app, since I’m assuming mario kart etc won’t work online if one person has the Japanese version and the other has the uk one.

back in the old days of totally offline gaming everybody thought they were great at everything cos they could beat their cat and sister, the advent of online leaderboards made us all realise what our true level was, ad it wasn't pretty for most.

Completely agree.  I remember playing racing games on xbox live for the first time and realising that actually I was pretty awful :(

I'm a bit disappointed there's no Earthbound on there yet, but it'll come soon, right?

Right?

They passed up the opportunity to add Mother/Earthbound Beginnings on the recent 30th anniversary to the NES app too.

Collection of Mother trilogy package like the Mana one incoming! Or, more likely, not.

Now that my Switch is essentially a portable SNES with detachable wireless controllers, I'm even less inclined to part with my Spare dock as I can see the folks I go on trips with being tempted by the prospect of multiplayer SMK around a big TV, even if they don't game that much these days.

One assumes the official Nintendo pads will have ZL and ZR buttons, to take advantage of the emulator functions, right?

I realised this was going to be a shortcoming of the SF30, since it’s identical to the original pad. Fortunately I’ve also got a Pro, but still.

Thanks.

Quick Google says the only way to use the SNES classic controllers is to get the 8bitdo wireless adapter and plug the controller into a Wii remote, which then connects to the adapter. You can only do this in docked mode because the adapter is usb. Long and short buy a SNES controller when Nintendo release them :p

I may well get Overwatch. I've never played it but I've got the Online and haven't heard anything but good things.

Am I right in thinking that you can be good at it even if you're not a Red Bull-addled teenager with lightning fast reflexes?

Absolutely, you can. There are so many good and diverse characters that you'll be able to find someone that suits your play style.

I never played Xenoblade Chronicles, though I was tempted when the sequel had a price cut because of the positive buzz surrounding it, though I ultimately decided against it as i had tonne of other Switch games to play at that time & i left it on my Wish List for later.

Is the first one considered superior then?  Is that the one I should start with if i want to jump into the series?

First game is a lot better yes. It's not the second coming, the battle system doesn't do enough to sustain 80 hours plus of gameplay. But it's a great game overall with a brilliant world and a genuinely good story. Amazing music too.

Just played some Super Metroid on my lunch.

Oh and I've never ever played Link To The Past... am I in for a treat?!?

Until BotW came along it was the best Zelda game. It's a stone cold classic, one of the greatest video games ever made.

Absolutely. Cue the onslaught of SNES mini's in the trading folder.

FWIW, I’ve got a Super Famicom plugged into my living room TV, and a decent game collection, and still keeping my Super NES Mini. It’s got seven games on it that have become prohibitively expensive on the secondary market (at least for the North American, English language versions), and it’s a cool thing to show people, rather more portable than lugging round a Super Famicom, Frame Meister and stack of cartridges. :)
